How to Champions Online - Action / FPS Targeting Tutorial HD

Hey man, quick question :) (I'm new to champions online)

I have the second screenshot of the description as my options, and it's amazing thanks, but when i right click again to switch back to pointing for when i'm about to select a mission or something, for some reason it automatically attacks the scenery like a pole or a monster nearby me or something and won't stop until i select my attack at the bottom to off again, am i doing something wrong? How do i fix this? thanks in advance :)

@kaitaishi It works with the keyboard, though its been over a year since I made this video so the option windows are a bit different, but I recently tried it and it still works.

@vipinwwefan Set Key Bind Set to First Person Shooter. You right click once and it goes into camera-follows-mouse mode. Right click again and you can use the mouse.

Thanks for this man. Like you said the biggie is the camera center out if you're using tab targeting, I've died so many times because I was tabbing through targets and it would tab through everyone else before it would go back to the dude in front of me.

Just got done playing the F2P stuff, They've done some good work on it. My favorite part is in making the archetype classes they realized a lot of the powers could be so much more fun. So they let passives be based on your superstat instead of being locked into a stat you may or may not have.

The F2P isn't as restricting as they first said it would be. But they rely too heavily on the C-store and so much less on making actual new content.

Also I'm head over heels in love with DCUOs gameplay!

@jelle049 They are limiting everything that makes this game fun with F2P. You are forced to play a pre-made archetype with less powers, unless you pay 15$ a month. You only get 1 inventory bag slot, and a lot of other limited content, etc.

It is a unlimited free trial, marketed as Free2Play. It's very shady and kind of insulting.

OBVIOUSLY there are going to be limits. If anyone is expecting to play the game for free and then expect to have access to everything in the game then they're idiots and don't understand that the company still has to make money even if it's a free to play model. Nothing shady or insulting about it. It's all explained in black and white in their website's F2P section outlining Gold vs F2P benefits.

Well like some said you get items but it doesnt change the way you look, but there are power replacer for guns/ shotguns, single blade and dual blade that unlock costume so you can change the look of thoes weapons.

You have to buy a subscription first. Then you have 1 free month and however many months you bought. I had the same troubles at first.

I like the the thing you said at the end about setting it so that right click is always on so that when you move your mouse your character turns or looks in that direction.

The auto-attack seemed wierd at first but I guess its pretty awesome. In my first MMO we had autoattack where you just hit one button and then let up and your guy just keeps on beating on stuff until you move them which kinda made it hard for pvp.

hey im no mmo expert..noob infact..but im using the xbox controller....an a bit awkawrd using the first attack button..while tryn to use camera...while movn at same time so i have so attack is turned off/on...but still dosent feel quite right, any advice...plus it it possible to play using only controller no keybourd or mouse at all..????

honestly...

1st Q: You said to set Auto Attack to maintain, how to you use WASD and hold down the 1 button for you energy builder

2nd Q: I did everything exactly the same way in controls, but the enemies names do not pop up when i right click and roll the reticule over them.

read up, its in the comments, its a known bug for #2 there.

and for #1 you should -always- redo your keybindings to a way that suits you how you play.

NEVER EVER settle for 123456 ect ect default keybindings. I use a fang keypad so I have 40 something buttons within finger reach so I use auto attack on a pinky for some characters and side mouse button for others.

Great video! I've been enjoying this style of play the past few days, but as of today's patch for the game, the auto target is no longer visible until you start attacking.

yeah its just a bug. They updates a ton of little stuff today, all of which is pretty cool. But of course it will break a few things. But cryptic is fast at fixing stuff like this.

The combat is real time. Its faster paced in Champions Online than WoW, that's for sure, but remains similar. They have made their own tweaks to the typical MMO combat system to make it feel more actiony.

You can use your Xbox 360 controller with the PC version and there is a Xbox version coming out, its not out yet.

I do enjoy this game a lot, largely because the combat is a lot of fun and doesn't get old quickly.

You can use an xbox controller.

You can respec, but the costs are currently very prohibitive.

You have to pay a monthly fee, if this bugs you either...quit being a brokeass loser or go play the Sims.

I believe you can respec your powers, until you have 10 ability's in that power set, at least that's what I heard.

How well does this work when your getting bombed on, or a team mate requests your help, you have to run and target something else, but guess what now you brought a 2nd enemy and... you have to stay locked onto your target to kill it, while still not looking at another target becouse it will take priority.

It is a nice find and works well for PVE when you can just decimate all. As for pvp i find this uselss.

Cuz usually you just click to kill in these type of games. It looks like it plays sorta like a hack n slash (with this setup). But I got a question for you. Can you move out of the way of range dps? Lets say someone had autotarget on, they cast a spell. Wondering if you can side step that. It would take more skill if the beams,fireball ect, didnt track ppl.

Nah it doesn't work like that, while it -sounds- cool in theory other mmos have tried that with horrible results. It works differently for each power, but generally whoever you were pointed at when you started "charging" the power it will hit unless they go out of range or hide behind something.

But the multiple hit ones you can point at different people and it will hit them all differently

I admit this setup may not be for everyone. For me, it was the selling point. I tried it out for an hour or so on default controls, and found it entertaining but not a keeper. Feeling the controls were cumbersome, I decided to tweak them, to see if it helped, and oh boy did it. It's like a whole new game!

As an addition, I did map some keys to target and untarget, for those times you just have to grab a target and keep it, but I so rarely use it.

CO is my new favorite MMO, because of this.

Yeah some hard mmo veterans will have trouble keeping up with this kind of gameplay. They've been stuck with the "target, run up, auto attack" gameplay for so long. This is def not the best set up for everyone. But for people who can keep up it will cut their reaction times to fractions of a second and be the fastest most fluid way to play the game.

I disagree, the PvP is so fast paced you lose track of them on your screen. I know for me that if I couldn't find the direction of my target by where my power builder is going I would lose people so I wouldn't like this set up for PvP.

Now if you were to use something like that channelled gun spell (two gun mojo or dojo or something) with this, would you be able to switch targets WHILE channellig and have it hit both that you were targetting? Or would it be focused on the one?
