@jmloh1 of course it was lust......the only thing any man could be capable of on a beautiful day like this would be to lust after his brother's bride to be......what a stupid thing to say....
@bestminstrel the musical forces altogether were second to none.....as it should be in the finest traditions of English music in the Anglican church....truly a treasure and honor to hear and see!!
@Jusmine984 Hi there, I also sang this with the RSCM, when they still had the Easter course at Rossall- must have been mid to late eighties I think. Awesome anthem and great times for me.
Indeed, a beautiful anthem by Sir Charles Hubert Parry. I believe it was also used at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and perhaps other Coronations as well!
I am 71 and when heard Parrys I was glad it took me back to what was once Englands fair and pleasant lands, the England that the poet Rupert Brooke and others wrote about.
A truly magnificent anthem..I'd never heard this piece before. It has brought me to tears!! I am a proud Scotsman and yes one day i would like to see an Independant Scotland, but one with the Queen, Prince Charles or whomever as the head of state!
Magnificent song. I was all "Bleh" about the royal wedding with all the hype going on around it but when I watched it online later on and the choir started singing I just started spilling out tears like an idiot. Just simply the most beautiful piece of composition.
This moved me to tears, and im a grown man! It is simply stunning!! The glorious setting of Westminster Abbey, how beautiful Kate looks and the Parry's Music made this perfect, and for me the highlight of the day. This is what England is to me, God Bless it and long live the Monarchy!
Some of the greatest music-making for a wedding that I can remember. In this day and age, I hope it was a treasure for most to experience Hubert Parry's mastery of church music composition. What a thrill! What joy! What elation!
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem-they shall profit that love thee" and "plenteousness within thy palaces" are my favorite parts of the lyrics. Perfect choice.
So moving to see prince william waiting at the alter whilst his bride to be is led by her ,so proud, father down the tree lined aisle. She looks so beautiful and relaxed. Such a wonderful choir singing such a wonderful and most appropriate hymn. Absolutely superb!
Absolutely fantastic song selections for this wedding. Very appropriate for the occasion and my goodness does Westminster Abbey have the acoustics to really allow such a song to exude the full grace of its lyrics.
Alas, I missed this part (returning home from work). IWG is a childhood favorite from my choirboy days. I loved the bombastic accompaniment too (brass overlay on the organ). I didn't know the royals had such a penchant for Parry (Blest Pair of Sirens and Jerusalem).
As an American I have a fascination with the Royal Family. I was moved to tears by the wedding. Kate truly is a diamond in the rough. Fairytale sounds too cheesy but it genuinely felt that way. Here's to the beautiful couple! Love!
I could have wept at this. What fabulous advert for all thats good about our small islands set in the North Sea. The republicans are doomed in the UK because we see so much of ourselves in the Royal Family, hard work, service duty and a love of ones country. The Queen, hasnt put a foot wrong in 59 years on the throne. At her enthronement she said, " i dedicate my life to the service of you, however long or short that may be."
"I was glad when they said unto me I will go into the house of the Lord." This is one of the most inspirational anthems ever written. The double choirs are thrilling. It was genius to use this during the procession.
Prince Harry leered with lust at Kate, when she got to the altar, moral interpitude

Did anyone notice how the hymn crescendoed perfectly when the bride reached the Altar!?
This happened with almost all the hymns. Beautifully breath-taking!
Loads of love from India!
