Sopt on Scouthome terrace the houses hsd no inside toilets, no mains water, no central heating, no hot water, kettels were warmed on the coal fire, we had a bath infront of the fire in our tin bath that when in not in use it lived in with the coal, but it was a good childhood.
Thank you I am sorry it is not Ross mill they are both Ilex mill the first over looks Rawtenstall cricket field and the second from bury rd looking across what is now Tescos I saw the sheep as I was coming out of the house one Sunday morning luckly I had my camera to hand. I am collecting a new set of photos and hope to post soon
I lived in Rossendale for 18 months before I moved up to Newcastle. It was only when i left that I realised how much I enjoyed it and what a magestic place it was. I will come back to the valley! They were such friendly and welcoming people. It's funny, when I was about to leave I was told by a local that 'you be back - they all come back'.
snap at 1.24 lookin down the steps towards cricket field carpark with hill in background, its a pic like tht which makes rossendale truly unique,i used to live near grange road as a nipper
