great list (with the exception of Bono at no. 1), If I where you I would've had john lennon's video be a day in the life (his vocals on that track just send shivers up and down my spine they are so beautifull)
Canadian, you are loosing credit, you are very beatlemanic. How can you tell McCartney and Lennon!!!! They are standard singer/musicians.
Where the hell is David SYLVIAN, Derek Dick/FISH, Peter HAMMILL, Richie HAVENS, Kim BEACON, John WETTON, Greg LAKE, Thomas FEINER, Adrian BELEW, Neal MORSE...how can you tell than McCartney or Lennon are better than them!! Thanks God you mentioned Jon ANDERSON and Peter GABRIEL. Bono thougth great is not better than who I mentioned, you still have to learn...
well...there are MANY of the best singers of all times not included here...but the thing that made me switch this geezers broadcast off immediately was that he named Bono as nr. 1.......
I think your top ten is pretty good. As for your number one, Bono, in the 80's & 90's was wonderful, now not so much, so I really can't quarrel with him, although I would put Robin Zander at number 1. The man is amazing, even now, in his late 50's he can hold his own with most anyone. If you like McCartney singing "Golden Slumbers" check out Zander singing it. His voice just has more depth and range than McCartney ever had. Good list though.
u2s kite is a great great song a u2 gem only their fans know about. but if u dont think bono deserves to be up there check out miss sarajevo in milan not many rock singers could hit those notes and to do it in front of italians the home of opera and pull it off u have to be good
I agreed until u got to the top 3~Russel Mael is amazing and should and could have been in your top 3!How about Steve Perry of Journey,Elton John the early years up until before he had surgery and even as far as 1996,and what about George Michael?Just to name a few!
@Lorcank Thanks. They have done an amazing body of work. You might not like it all as it is so varied, but I am sure you will love some of it. I happen to love all of it. :P
I agree with you on all of them except I can't listen to Cheap Trick at all. Because my father used to get totally messed up on drugs and then sing "I want you to want me" while drooling.... I am scarred for life.
Don't forget Brad Delp (Boston) - one of the greatest rock voices ever IMO. Definitely Russell Mael and Peter Gabriel! My top list includes some indie musicians too.
The Magnetic Fields (Stephin Merritt) - check out the song "Strange Powers"
The Ravishing Ronalds - check out "So Sad About Happy" (on myspace)
my list is a lot in the not that great singer list, not in any particuliar order, Dylan, first 15 years Neil Young, Gary Brooker - Procol Harum, Richard Manuel - The Band, Lowell George - Little Feat, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, 60's 70's Lou Reed, Ian Anderson - Jethro Tull, Kurt Cobain. Generally speaking singers that get across feel and ideas.
fail....i was with you until you said Bono as number 1....then you lost me....he should have maybe been included in your top ten but certainly for me somewhere near the bottom. i agree with some your choices for the most part though.
If you thought it was as freaky as hell forward, just listen to it backwards, most of it in relation to Paul's death in 1966.
the scariest part backwards has to be 'if you become naked.' Honestly scared me stupid. I also love the white album, But my fave record has to Magical Mystery Tour :)
@JMJMad1 I was 10 when I first heard that and back in 1968 it was scary as hell...but I always loved that track...plus The White Album is my all time favorite record. :)
@canadianstudmuffin My only 'complaint' is that I don't see any links as mentioned in the video... Other than that, great video, I'll start watching your channel. Very soothing speaking voice, pronounciation and accent.
@RDPublic Sorry but I am in the YouTube partnership program and I can't include copyrighted images or music. You are not forced to watch my boring vlogs by the way. Thanks.
@canadianstudmuffin: If I had done such a list my No. 1 would be Lennon then Mc Cartney and then Richard Z. Kruspe...... (not of the Beatles!!!) But perhaps you have heard of the german band Rammstein from East Germany! Very successful in America and Rammstein and the Beatles are my favourite bands. It's a wild mix but it's like that........ If you don't like Rammstein it's okay too. Only hard fans like me also know that Richard Z. K. also has done and published songs under the name Emigrate.
Wow Larry, that is definitely a great list. Mine would be, no particular order-1)Paul McCartney, 2)John Lennon, 3)Paul Rodgers(Free, Bad Company), 4) Jon Anderson(Yes), 5)Rob Halford(Judas Priest), 6)Dio 7)Steven Tyler, 8) Joey Ramone, 9) Doug Pinnick (King's X) ,10) Bon Scott
Nice top ten. That's close to my top ten, but I like Chris Cornell as number 3. If you haven't heard of him, I'm shocked because he was the vocalist for Soundgarden. But you should look up the theme song for James Bond Casino Royale. If you want of course. , Bye
Nice top ten. That's close to my top ten, but I like Chris Cornell as number 3. If you haven't heard of him, I'm shocked because he was the vocalist for Soundgarden. But here is a video of his song for James Bond Casino Royale. You Know My Name:
1 and 2 Puffy AmiYumi, 3 Steven Tyler, 4 John Lennon, 5 Paul McCartney, 6 AC/DC's Angus Young, 7 Queen's Freddie Mercury, 8 Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant non-solo career, 9 The Who's Roger Daltrey, 10 Tom Petty and the heartbreakers's Thomas Earl "Tom" Petty.
haha i went to high school with a guy named Jon Anderson. and the basterd stole my girlfriend so i broke his nose and a little bit of his jaw....and i may have fractured his skull but that may have been when he fell head first into a tree....
@thearmyproductions He is right up there. I just don't care for the way Aerosmith went so commercial. I loved earlier Aerosmith though, especially "Draw The Line", one of my favorite rock songs ever.
Your video is a great education for me in rock singers. Didn't even know of that Freddy Mercury song.I agree with a lot of your choice BTW. Thanks for the links. I can't think of anyone you've left out. I would possibly question the inclusion of Macca, but then I think of Yesterday and find myself agreeing - he a great.
haha I knew Bono would be your Number 1. ;) He'd be in my Top 10 as well along with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel and Bon Scott. My Top 10 would also include Phil Collins, Roger Hodgson, Alan Parsons, Mick Jagger, and Roger Waters/David Gilmour tied for # 1 from Pink Floyd. :) Pink Floyd has always been my favorite Rock Band of all time!
Really nice choises =) can't argue... and well... my personal list would include ... 10. Lemmy Kilmister (he is not Pavarotti for sure, but who cares? =D 9. Ronnie Van Zant 8. Gary Brooker 7. Elvis Presley (ho-ho, no comments) 6. Tom Petty 5. John Fogerty 4. Robert Plant (Only firsts four Zeppelin albums) 3. Bruce Springsteen 2. Tom Waits 1. Jim Morrison
my favourite singer is Tom DeLonge from blink 182. he sounds better live than on his albums, but a lot of people would disagree with that and say he sounds like a dying horse on stage, but i love it lol. have a happy easter btw, Larry :)
Can't argue it. They are great picks. On any one day I could have the same list. I might be willing to argue about best singers tomorrow, but not today. Great Picks again.
My top 10 in no particular order would be: Jim Morrison (The Doors), Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), Freddie Mercury (Queen), Michael Stipe (R.E.M.), Liam Gallagher (Oasis), Bon Scott (AC/DC), Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses), Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) and Thom Yorke (Radiohead).
Very good choices larry, i would post a video response but my camera is out, is ill just type them here. 10. paul stanley of KISS 9, Ronnie Van Zant of lynyrd skynyrd 8. James hetfield of Metallica 7. Ian Astbury of The Cult 6. Sephen Pearcy of RATT 5, Joe Elliot of Def Leppard 4. Steve Walsh of Kansas 3. David Lee Roth of Van Halen 2.Bob Catley of Magnum 1.Ronnie James Dio
Great list Larry! I may make a video response with my fav singers, although I think we may have several in common. I like a few of there songs, but for whatever reason, I've never been able to get N2 U2 lol
@Jabarichonicles Far from my favorite singer but the band Rush is great. One Canadian singer I should have on my list is Burton Cummings from the Guess Who.
