I saw Oregon play @ Birdland last winter. I was right up front and what an experience! To watch Ralph Towner play was awesome. And I learned that Glen Moore(the bassist) wears toe socks because he prefers to be shoeless,lol!
Fantastic! One of the greatest groups ever. Anyone who likes Oregon should also check out the "Silent Feet" album by Eberhard Weber on ECM. Also McCandless plays on Mark Isham's best album "Castalia."
These guys got their start backing Paul Winter when he first came out. THE CONSORT in it's humble beginnings... then they named themselves Oregon and the rest as they say is history.
Where is the one off of the original Oregon record? Ralph Towner played a twelve sting on that and it was incredible. Also Larry Coryell was taking music in another direction as well when he mentioned Ralph Towner in an interview. Larry asked the classical guy at the time if he had ever heard of Ralph Towner (?) The classical purist journalist said no. The name of the magazine was "Guitar Magazine" with Larry playing the Hagstom on stage on the front cover.
Great performance. I saw them live several years ago without the percussionist (thus the trio). What a great band. Thank you so much for posting this.
@cr1msonking93 Why would any person's (s') age have to do with the ability to discern great music? Wouldn't it just be inate to any individual simply by listening and watching, and then simply comparing it to the tripe you hear in everyday life? It should be automatic to anyone of any age.
oregon ... first heard on radio in 1972 (or so) broadcast from willisau jazz festival switzerland ... made my heart jump and my ears grow longer and longer ... seen 'em 4 times live ... an extraordinary experience

@guyroeeandbuzi
His name is Ralph Towner. Over a dozen albums on ECM. Came to international prominence for his intro to 'The Moors' on Weather Report's 2nd album.

@stratoleft Why should a modern journalist need to know about anyone who doesn't have a reality TV show? News became publicity decades ago.
