I loved this movie. The ending wasn't quite happy, but it was so meaningful, and so much like real life. Both the songs and the story seem to say so much without really saying anything at all. So beautiful, so fiercely lovely.

If you loved this movie, I recommend 5 centimeters per second by Makoto Shinkai, which has the most gorgeous artwork I've ever seen. Both it and Once have the quality of being so simple and true that they speak to us, and teach us about life. You won't regret watching it.

I honestly think its a travesty that this song wasnt considered for any sort of award, it just seems so applicable. It always seems to bring some emotion front and center, depending on how the song hits me. Friends, Lovers, Strangers, we all have our "once."
