So that explains both why when I was a child, an elderly man stuffed me in a sack and took me to spain. As well as why seven (it's seven) black men came into my house and kicked me
"Zwarte Piet", or the men in black face who are Sinterklaas's man-servants, are Moors, and actually represented indepence from Roman Catholic Popery and the Spanish Monarchy. Zwarte Piet is a Moor, a shamanic god actually, that represents the Dutches pre-Catholic pagan past.
In European countries, Saint Knick and his black slaves represent the defeat the Moorish Empire by the Christians; The Roman Empire Order of Christ and Mary. In other words, the Catholic Churches defeat of the Moorish Empire, who studied I.S.L.A.M. The attire of the slaves/elves parodies that of the Moors.
Research Moors' Heads in European Heraldry, the Punic Wars, Othello, Moorish Spain etc.
First off, this is racist and hypocritical. It's also funny as all hell. In fact it's funny because it's racist and hypocritical. If you guys can't comprehend the absurdity of racism it will always have a hold on you.
as a dutch i need to comment this...sinterklaas and chrismas are to totaly different holidays.
and to be honest sinterklaas is a real person who lived around the year 280 he was a bishop and had servants not slaves. the thought behind all of this is that he gave away presents on his birthday instead of getting them. We don't think that there is anything rasistic about this
@wisjh I was born and lived in holland too and I have to say it is a little racist. 1. they are called zwarte piet (black piet) 2. the whole their not black, they just got dark because of climbing through the chimney is even more degrading (especially as climbing through a chimney doesn't give a fro, full pitch black skin, and red lipstick lips) 3. all those zwarte pieten 'helping' one old dude makes it LOOK like they're slaves
The only thing I did liked was the presents and pepernooten
Also, he was believed to be a Saint because of that.
The story of Saint Nicolaas and the black pieten, who would kick you or put you in a sack and take you with them to Spain, was a story told by parents to their children so that they would behave and be obient.
Ofcourse this is no longer the case but many stories of that time can still be traced back in the songs of this holiday...
As an "ignorant American" I loved this video. I laughed until my sides hurt. I will share it with a few of my ignorant American friends whom I believe will enjoy it as much as I did. Many ignorant Americans have a sense of humor or a sense of the ridiculous and like comedy in many forms. Thanks for the laughs!

I've lived in NL for 2.5yrs. The white dutch hang on to this because they don't want to be told by others what they should and shouldn't do. It is a children's event, and children don't see racism, only fun. However there is a definite class distance between white dutch and 'others'. The 'international' Santa Claus has midgets as helpers, but that's not seen as wrong? Americans are SO over sensitive to this stuff, and have little idea of 'cultural diversity', there is a world outside the USA...
gez you never quit do you? the idea behind comody is laffing aat other peoples expence. the idea being that the ppl @ the tail end of the joak will take it in stride and not get offended. this usualy works varry well. you make fun of someone and someone makes fun of you. you both have a laugh at the other as well as at yourself. you need to lighten up.
As an American living in the Netherlands, we find Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet to be a great tradition. Not racist at all. It's all in the perception. My kids love putting their shoes out for gifts and they adore Zwarte Piet. The Pieten are just like Santas' elves. It's Americans that think they are racist, not Dutch. It's part of the culture to be embraced, not looked down upon. Each culture has their own beliefs, just deal with it and know that the Dutch aren't racist -it's just their tradition
How about "It's a quirky tradition that enriches the cultural landscape, not perfect, not always nice, but it teaches us about ourselves by how we react to it."?

Dutch and Flemish people, cut out your revisionist crap - If you want Zwarte Piet to look like he went in a chimney then smudge his face, not give him bright red lips, afro, and black facepaint. Its disgusting how you brainwash your children with this racist crap, but I guess you can't help it. You're just holding on to your last racist tradition so you can still feel superior to blacks. Theres a black president of the US now, get over it. PS I'm not American, but from another Western country.
We are no racists! and our children are not brainwashed. We do not feel superior to black, it is just a really nice tradition (santa sucks, it is a coca cola rip off of Sinterklaas) The way David Sedaris tells his story you may think that but Zwarte Piet is loved by all Dutch kids. Children do not think about racism yet, the older kids know it is no racism. Look at the fat Santa, that is a really bad example. Sinterklaas loves everyone and zwarte piet has nothing to do with racism!
My grandfather is legally blind, and he still hunts using a special crossbow.(We live in Michigan.) Usually my dad goes with him but sometimes he goes alone, in which case he walks to his hunting spot. He can see just well enough to hit a deer, which he can hear coming, and then he gets help to track it.
I know it sounds really insane but it actually isn't so dangerous as it seems.
Ted nugent sounds like an interesting redneck except for the fact that the words are spelled correctly and obviously french hater and no i am not french my family history only goes back to other places including both sides of the concentration camp which is why i will never have a full family reunion.
What you just said has no coherence what so ever. In the context of what "Craydon" was saying, the word "Dear" is improperly used. Sure, its spelled correctly, but it not the right "deer" were talking about; the animal.
First of all, i dont hate the French. You missed the whole point of why i even used the quote by Ted Nugent.
Secondly, is there even a logical reason to why you cared to talk about your family history or why you wont ever have a family reunion?
please, please, post more. i have read me talk pretty one day, and when you are engulfed in flames, and until amazon sends me my next purchase, PLEASE post more.
Listen, you might want to pack a few of your things together before bed. The former bishop of Turkey will be coming tonight along with six to eight black men. They might put some candy in your shoes, they might stuff you in a sack and take you to spain, or they might just pretend to kick you. We don't know for sure, but we want you to be prepared.
I'm gonna try to explain what's going on in holland :D sinterklaas doesn't have any connection with santa. for example: at 5 december de kids get presents from sinterklaas and at christmas they get even more presents from santa. i dunno where they got sinterklaas from but when i was a child i diddn't care cause i just got 2 presents in 1 month... :D
Ehm.. that's actually not true. Santa Claus originates from the Dutch Sinterklaas. And I think you're one of the few who actually got presents twice in one month. Most people either celebrate Sinterklaas or Chirstmas with presents.
@Jantrao great upload, thnx! exactly: santaclaus is a make-over date-over from sinterklaas, by detouring and due to our dutch practice to copy the American culture we have in holland the same guy twice.. present-wise=nice however money-&stress-wise=often a burden. liked zwarte pieten part particularly: feel uncomfortable myself with it. these (you might dig deeper to say no its not) DO feel like slaves plus its black people presented stupidly. dutch history is too painful in that area to do so.
cant they find any real black men for the official proceedings of the event? :) ive been to amsterdam a few times and saw at least 6 to 8 real black men -- they were all trying to sell me coke and ecstasy, but still, im sure they'd be willing to help out for Christmas!

Like Ted Nugent said, and i quote,

can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the French."

This guy is trying to get this Dutch tradition for children to the ground.
Although his information is far from true.
Also, he is not telling that the well-known Santa-Claus is the American version of this very Dutch tradition.
Back in history, when Holland bought Manhattan for 30 gulden, which is about 22 dollars, they brought the Dutch Sinterklaas to America.
So of you try to make this childrensfest look like a tradition for fools, in fact you're laughing about yourself..
