  • I amazes me how you can draw straight lines and curves by free hand with such consistency..

  • i love doing these too :) like this one, its different but still a growing picture :) by the way, i think 6 people didnt watch the whole video to se the picture grow ;)

  • Thank you! Love the allowing piece, allowing what arises to be a part of the mandala. Also the seed metaphor. Can't wait to get started! I will check out your website for more ideas.

  • DEVINE just wondering what paper do you use? especially when using the pens.

  • Awesome! You have a great eye for proportion and shape!

  • Amazing! I love the humbleness of your attitude. I will try your method. Thank you very much!

  • amazing

  • I will now follow your advice brilliant one (:

  • I can fap to this.

  • I love this! It is almost a perfect circle, which is amazing to me! I am going to have to try this :)

  • i love it!!!!!!!!!!

  • brillant!!!! :D

  • OMG it seems so easy. It's beautiful. I want to try it right now. Thank you so much for posting this tutorial.

  • Can i ask, Are you a pieces ?

  • Love it bubi! It came out so precise! You have quite a way with precision...

  • I like this very much. I like that it is not precise. Thank you

  • I love you...

  • did anyone else notics cvs.. like if you did

  • Impressive. I need to try this exercise. I drew a mandala a while back, but I used a different method.

  • LOVE IT!!!!

  • can someone explain the connection to meditation and prayer with mandalas

  • This is beautiful. My teacher was showing us this video in our art class, and I was mesmerized. I knew I had to draw one in this style, so I did. I'm greatful you made this video, and I plan on drawing one with this technique every day when I have time.

  • 8 or 6 lines? ;)

  • What type of pen & colored pencils did you use???

  • @cosmicartist ~ I am using stabilo fineliner pens in this video. When I draw with pencils (as in the other video on my website) I use prismacolor pencils. Have fun!

  • I LOVE this!!!!

  • @cosmicartist ~ Yay!

  • this is a very nice peice, and i like your method of how you make the mandala, but there are ways to make it more accurate, with angles and curves

  • @TheUndeadDream ~ Yes, definitely -- most of the mandalas I've done are more precise. This video is so that everyone (even those who aren't inclined toward exact detail) can learn the basic idea... On my website there's another time-lapse video where you can see me measuring things out... Blessings to you.

  • I think it's very Spiritual... the Buddhist Monks make them all the time :)

Thank you for sharing your wonderful spirit through growing mandalas, ExpressingtheSelf!

Ɲαɱα§ɫé, ℒℴѵℯ and light to you!

    Rubes (((♥))) XX

  • @KangaRubes - Thank you! Namaste beautiful one...

  • You may easily use the design as a channelling of spiritual energy (just integrate your own symbols into the design, a sun and moon, for example), and who says meditation and relaxation isn't spiritual? When someone meditates on the image of a deity and the energy it radiates, is this not spiritual? Of course it is, for this is a something innumerable amounts of people do to tap into their own spirit...

  • It sounds like a neat artform... But why are you trying to make this spiritual? What you are experiencing isn't spirit... it's meditation and relaxation... If you have really experience the spirit of God you would know this... You would never be the same.. It is nothing like what you are doing... You are just making art... very cool art, but just art.

  • @orangegold1 Oh. I didn't realize I was making it spiritual. Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you like the art form!

  • @orangegold1 I don't think the presence of a god or even religion is required for spirituality to exist. Kindly look up the larger mandalas made out of colored sand by monks. They get very large, the more intricate ones take up to about a week. Then before sundown on the day of completion, it is destroyed. This is to teach us the impermanence of beauty in the physical world.

  • Beautiful mandala.

  • @ExpressingtheSelf

    cool! loved it!

1 question, is it always 8 times or just because u started doing it 8 times in this one? and, do u have to move the paper or your around it? thanx =]

  • @eatmyfeet88 - Thanks for asking... To repeat it 8 times around the circle is just the easiest way to do it for beginners because it's relatively easy to mark the 8 parts evenly and it fills the mandala better than 4 sides. This kind of mandala can have any number of sides, but 3, 5, 6, or 7 sides are harder to make even. You do want to turn the paper each time you repeat the shape... that makes it easy and meditative.

  • @ExpressingtheSelf thanks! u were really helpful!

now i'm going to grow my mandala!!! =]]]

  • Prema,

    a very nurturing practice indeed

  • The idea with drawing the lines/shapes on the side in the video was just instructional -- so you can see the very simple elements that are used in creating a mandala.

  • @ExpressingtheSelf a very nurturing practice.
