In my opinion Vin Diesel didn't ruin it. It was the ending that was sort of dumb and sudden, but the acting, especially Vin's very charismatic imo.

I don't get it why this movie was so underrated.

I've seen a lot movies already, and I have to say that this one here is one of a couple of movies I am going to see a second time. The music was great, and, well, of course there are some logical errors, but I just love this movie. I was kinda sad, hours after viewing. I don't know why. Usually I don't really like Vin Diesel Movies, but this one was great. And Melanie Thierry was just awesome!

I wasn't impressed with the film too much (especially near the end, it felt stretched out way to long and the main villain just appeared from out of the blue, there just seemed no reason to care for the antagonists' overacting)... BUT THIS SONG catches me for some reason (I guess the mixture of the sinister and the pessimistic; the girl is just a pawn for pointless insanity). The bits with the girl had a refreshingly uncanny, foreboding quality that kept the film going.

Well FOX were the ones that ruined this movie. I believe Mathieu Kassovitz had this as an R rated movie and was much longer than intended? Instead, we had a PG-13 movie that was a mess in the last 40 minutes of the movie. The Unrated version definitely made some things more understandable, but I would definitely love to see a Directors Cut.

Hans Zimmer was the Executive Score Producer for the soundtrack, but he didn't actually write music for it. The composer was Atli Orvarsson, who has worked as an additional composer for Zimmer, but is almost totally unknown himself, so far. Hopefully this soundtrack will actually let people realize that he has great potential!
