This song still paints a vivid picture. Gary hits a few "clunkers", and the dramatic pauses suggest he almost forgets the lyrics, but overall, a nice performance--and good sound quality. Looks like they haven't abandoned the old fold back speakers in favor of ear phones. It keeps it real.
This song always gives me chills !

all hands on deck, we've run afloat!' I heard the captain cry
'explore the ship, replace the cook: let no one leave alive!'
Across the straits, around the horn: how far can sailors fly?
A twisted path, our tortured course, and no one left alive

We fired the gun, and burnt the mast, and rowed from ship to shore
The captain cried, we sailors wept: our tears were tears of joy
Now many moons and many junes have passed since we made land
A salty dog, this seaman's log: your witness my own hand

any one know what brooker says at beggining of this wonderful song? something about before we go, seagulls? dose it make any sense.
rallyur 2 years ago
@rallyur Nothing profound. He simply says - "Before we go, we'd like to play this for all our friends and for any seagulls that are listening."

This and Whaling Stories are such masterpieces. Their early stuff was so artistic.
