@StephTbone It's only creepy if you think about it in a sexual sense and that, by no means, conveys properly what Christine meant to the Phantom. He wanted her to be happy, ultimately, he wanted her to be safe and cared for. The conflict through the whole opera was that he wanted so desperatly for her to find that happiness with HIM that he would do anything for it. But when she showed him kindess, that one kindness where she looked past his deformity like so many neglected to do, he let her go.

This happens because walking or moving around on your tiptoes with your heels pointing inward reallydoes make a number on your anatomy (even the natural positioning of your spine). Hope it helped.
