yes gravy eater i have, and i know my physics.... aside from having no reverse and nowhere for the dog and kids i'll take my v any day... i've yet to be remotely challenged by a jet...closest run the guy pulled to 90 mph with blown bbc not bad, only 28 mph more to catch me......but his was easier to dock.

@FlatBroke612 You clearly don't understand how a jet works. It doesn't "push" against the water, or the air behind the boat. The forward momentum of the boat is a product of the mass of the water displaced ( pumped by the unit ) and top speed of the boat is limited by the exit velocity of the jet stream. Hence pumping it into air ( rooster tail ) gives higher top speed.
Have you ever driven a jetboat? If you had you never would have chosen a v drive!

I've had v-drives and jet boats. V-drives are faster hp for hp, but jet boats always look like their going 120!!! (at 65 mph!) LOL!! ;-)

testdrived a boat tday.. norwegian manufactured ... 6.8l mercruiser (shitengine) think around 300 HP and a max speed of 50 nots.. not bad ....
