I change my water every weekend! And I do 100% every time and I've never had a fish die due to it in 28 yrs! And as for the de-chlorinator it takes around 30 mins to work!
help anyone i have a 40 gal breeder and i put in a peice of wood i bought from petco in there and made my water like red? how do i get my water clear again
@fortheloveoffish Shortly I will be putting out a video on how I built my freshwater sump, and also how to do it without spending a lot of money. I can and possibly will make another water changing video, to show how to use the sump as well.
Well I'm not talking about instantly but when I do it I pour the dechlorinator in and mix it around for like 30 seconds and then let it sit for like 5 minutes. Then I fill the tank up.
@fortheloveoffish Thats still no where near close enough, really 2 hours isnt even quite enough. I mean if you think of all the stuff a simple compound has to complete "instantly" especially to the mass of water, from just a common sense perspective (let alone through a science perspective) its impossible. Its just not going to happen like that. Its not like I dont want it to be true. Hell, if it was instantly, I wouldnt need my sump system or any bucket ever.
U don't hav to wait hours for the dechlorinator to work. It works instantly! Also instead of carrying those buckets to fill up the tank use a powerhead with a tube and fill it up the tank like that.
@fortheloveoffish Actually thats not true and a common misconception. I mention the deal with this in part 1. It defiantly does NOT de-chlorinate instantly. It might as it touches the each water molecule, but defiantly not instantly for any mass of water, Im not trying to be rude, but thats basic knowledge.
As for the powerhead, I did think of that (as I mention I actually use a sump system I built for my water changes, this all for example) but it wouldnt get all the water out from the bucket
@bmoore09 No, thats exactly what I am talking about. Just like I put in the post below that would still be adding possibly (depending whats in your tap water) all those contaminates straight to your tank easily killing life, or ruining your water parameters so later down the road things die. The worst time for these things to happen is when your doing your water change too. Believe me, if it was that simple I would be doing it, I have a lot of tanks to maintenance on.
@bmoore09 I know some people on youtube might say thats o.k. to do, but believe me its not. If you dont do some research. Also those water conditioners that say they work "instantly", this is not the case. Lets think logically here, if you have lets say a 5 gallon bucket and you pour your water conditioner in, the second it hits the water, do you really think all of a sudden, theres no chlorine, chloramines, or any other contaminates in there? NO! It has to touch all of the molecules to do it.
Good video. Best Python demo I've seen. I was thinking about getting one but wasnt sure how to use it. Looks very simple. One thing I would suggest is turning the lights on in your room. It's really hard to see.
@bmoore09 I know I didnt think about lights until after I did it, but I also wanted to make it easier to see inside the aquarium. Yes its easy to use, and you could fill the tank with it, but, THATS A BAD IDEA. Thats adding things like, chlorine, chloramines, possibly nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, and other bad heavy metals that most water conditioners take out. Thats why I tell you in like every video to age your water with your conditioner.
Your good at this. I have only just started keeping fish, but im already completly sucked in. Its so interesting. I have a 22lt aquaone and a two foot tank in my room. Im saving up for a four ft. Awsome vids!!:-))

thanks for the response. But what about taking the water out, then putting the conditionerin the tank, then using the python from the sink? That ok?
