It's sad to see the implosion of the stadium. Though I am proud of TCU's football program, the place has a lot of special memories. Congratulations on the Rose Bowl victory!
I've been raised on TCU all my life and now live in North Carolina with my husband, so I had to miss being there for real. I'm really glad I could see it on YouTube and am looking forward to seeing the new stuff and the rebuilding.
Probably good they destroyed all those extra seats. About time they realized they should set their sites lower. A nice 18 k attending the games will look very impressive in the severly scaled back stadium! Croak!
TCU averaged 42k this season, and the stadium will seat close to 40k once the West stand redevelopment is complete, and 50k once the East redevlopment is finished.
My son went to TCU (Class of 2003) and we attended the last game Rice played there (2002?).......The Rice band played on the field and apparently dropped grass seed on the field through their pants that spelled out "R-I-C-E"........No telling what that did to the grass growth. We love that campus.....Compact and no wasted space. Very proud of what TCU has accomplished and great fans. All the best in the Rose Bowl (where I'm originally from).....been to 11 Rose Bowls and sadly will miss it.
As a former dancer with the TCU Marching Band 1974-78, what a bittersweet thing it is for me to watch this, thinking of all the times the Band came into the stadium pre-game, marching around under the upper deck with drums booming and fans cheering. I hope that cherished tradition will continue when the renovations are completed! Go Frogs!!
Amazing too see the thing come down. It will be very strange driving through that area the next time I'm Ft. Worth to NOT see it. I worked at TCU 1981-2008
I too, am a grad of TCU living in Las Vegas now. Class of 1983. Gives me chills watching a part of our history be blown up ... but it sounds like a bigger better replacement is in the works, so that's good! Thanks for letting us see the change in the making!
This is what would happen if TCU joined the SEC.

I remember sneaking into the stadium at 4am to drop ropes from the top and rappel off the back of the press box. Good times.
