it doesn't really take long to teach a new trick. Once I do my homework in learning how to teach the trick, know Snowy's motivation, make the training session short (ex: 3 training sessions per day - 10 minutes for each session) AND FUN ^_^ lots of praise, encouragements...etc

I am sure you can also teach your maltese MANY tricks. They really are smart :)

i like the part wen snowy play dead because he looked so cute wen he face the camera while he played dead. milky can do all that but not dance, pretty sit, retrive the ball in the pool. she does not know that 'cause i dont have a pool! milky knows roll over but i have no idea how i taught her that 'cause she just did it and i was so suprised. and then she roll over wen ever i said to!!! btw thats her favorite trick!! =D

rouronijohn, no your maltese isn't sick to have that around her eyes. What you are describing is called "Tear Stains".

It is normal for maltese, bichons, poodles and other dogs to get "tear Stains". Dog owners use different ways to take care of it. There are special products for that, such as Angels Eyes and Lavish Pet Spa.

For my maltese, I clean their face daily. I use warm wet towel to wipe their faces, then dry it. It is important to keep that area dry.

hwy guys. hopefully someone can help. Three days ago i got a one(ish) year old maltese form my cousin. She got her when she was just a puppy but has never really been able to take care of her like she deserves so lon story short, now i have it. And love it!

quick question though, she seems to have a lot of eye gunk. i noticed the dog in the video doesnt. Is this i hygiene thing? if so whats the right way to clean her? or is it possible she's sick? :o would appreciate any insight.

I highly recommend dog owners to clicker train their dogs when teaching them stuff.

No, it is not too late. My maltese Snowy is 4 years old, and I can still teach him new things ;-) It is really simple. You have to learn the simple methods to teach each trick before starting with your dog. I learned it through one of the books that I purchased, but hey now you can learn it online - here in youtube too ..Example, type "how to teach sit to a dog" in the search bar in youtube and see what will you find . If you need more help, let me know..Good luck and have fun

Its really easy to teach tricks. Just know the right method, then you are fine. Snowy is clicker trained. Positive training, praising, practice and patience are few things to remember =)
