Not being an Nvidia fanboy here but I've experienced both Ati and Nvidia's good and bad sides and the Nvidia cards, despite not being as strong, perform MUCH better because of the good drivers they make for it, compared to the Ati that make good cards but sucky drivers that can't even handle things correctly.

Yes I did hear about problems with that series, but they got fixed (some people are still using cards of that series), and while that makes bad publicity for that company, that sort of problem is generally isolated to the series it happens in, not every single card. when its hardware issue related, then it all boils down to how vista deals with the hardware and drivers. Vista was made to run on newer computers that can basically have any hardware. Whereas on osx, it was built to only run on a specific hardware. It is Microsoft's fault for not making vista as compatible with hardware as xp was, but Microsoft shouldn't get all the blame, some of it is just the lazy companies not updating the drivers and just plain crappy hardware cough (acer).
