These helmets are a great buy. I prefer these over suomy spec1r's and Shoei's. I dont know they just fit my head better. As for comparing them quality wise along with top of the line brands such as suomy, arai, and shoei, its apples and oranges. I will say the carry bag is a nice feature that comes with these lids as well. Stability at 150 on 1000rr is decent. Nicest thing is you can pick up last years models for 250 on closeouts

bell customer support is disappointing bell production facititly needs restructuring the entire north american market was starved for stock on bell star matt all there bell star visors and the bell matt arrow no stock i waited 3 months to get a iridium blue visor the summer was over by the time there production facility started to meet demand too little too late the chin diffuser comes out too easy and the chin vent is problematic i am disappointed on all levels with bell
Bell star, easily. Check my video of the GP-tech. the visor has lines running across it, the fabric tons of fuzzballs and the overlay on this limited edition (1000) flagship racing helmet has bubbled. And it has no visor lock. good luck. Just be warned the interior on the bell is a bit thin and the visor is rounded unlike arai/shoei top end which are flatter for better visibility.
As Harry Hurt from the Snell Foundation once said, "Tell me what kind of accident you're going to have, and I'll tell you what kind of helmet to wear!"
The 2010 Bell Star is an amazing piece of modern engineering. Its fit and finish rival much more expensive competitors, true it isn't cheap but you get what you pay for!
As the older Bell advertisements used to say, "Buy a $10 helmet if you have a $10 head!"
I don't understand price on these helmets. Both a $49.95 helmet meets the same safety specs as a $600.00 helmet. So why spend all that money on one of these. Makes no sense to me.
@MrDeezi It has a similar number of vents and vent placement at the X-11, but it has not gotten really hot in Philly yet - as soon as I have spent a little more time riding in warmer weather with it I will weigh back in. I am sure it will be in the same ballpark as the X-11 being that they are both well delsigned top end helmets, but I would be speculating if I commented on which I thought would be better without the right conditions for testing being met. - Sorry to be vague - Anthony

@dimics actually I see the visor is flat on the 2010 model. The 2009 is rounded off.

@JayzBeerz It makes no sense because you have probably hit your heat hard on the tarmac wearing those cheap-ass $50 helmets...
