Why the hate? He says it is technically illegal right at the beginning, but a lot of people don't mind when playing non-competitively. It's not like you'd be watching pool videos on youtube if you were playing competitively anyway. Obviously you should not do this kind of shot when playing a stranger unless you've talked about it, but in alot of friendly games have house rules that allow this sort of shot.

Why are we teaching ppl illegal shots? If I see someone trying to jump a ball by scooping the cue ball, I stop them. Actually jumping the cue ball, kind of takes a little more skill and it isn't illegal. You have to come down onto the cue ball to make it rebound off the felt. You can't hit the felt first or scoop under the cue ball to make it jump! That's a rule in both APA and BCA handbooks.

dude, this guy forced me to make a youtube account to just post my comment, that is clearly an illegal jump shot, scooping the ball means that the ball ride along the shaft of the cue of you watch in slow motion, riding on the cue is a foul. As for that masse shot, you have to be pretty much an open level pool player to play that shot from such close distance, you would not be able to masse it and do a legal hit at such small gap at your level. So please learn to play before you learn to teach.

@dotamaster123 i couldnt agree more....unless he wants to go 90 degrees on that masse and pull an eric yow there is no way that he is making a legal masse....let alone the fact that he cant even do a masse to get around half the face of a ball. as far as the illegal jump this video should be banned from youtube to prevent people like this from messing up tables in pool halls that are covered with simonis cloth or just pool tables in general.

This guy is NOT qualified to teach jump or masse shots. 1. Legal jump shot must be done by hitting the cue ball into the table so it bounces; to scoop it off the cloth is illegal. If you purposely scoop in a classy billiards parlor, you may be kicked out. 2. It is called a "masse" shot, unrelated to Mike Massey.
