@davybabyson leave the 2jz in the supra. the hype is just that; hype. good engine, great power capacity... but the price to match. same with the rb26. unless youre taking the car to the track as a living, youll be much better off keeping your ka and tuning the piss out of it. better low end torque, which is what you feel when you put your foot down. not hp. torque. remember that.
and its lighter than both. and less displacement means better potential gas mileage. just a word from the wise...
It all comes down to what you perfer I've seen all these motors grenade. You just can't build a perfect motor unless your a perfect person. All motors have weak points and strong points and they all have certain traits that are better suited for different motorsports its up to you to figure out what works better for you. Just be thankful we have options back in 97 there were none everybody catered to hondas.
Sr's are meant more for drifting also if you people knew what you were talking about and didnt just watch youtube vids and go, "ooo that car sounds cooler" you'd have a valid point in what you say.
For 1 ka.t in the USA is a lot easyer to get parts for and way cheaper. Torque is so awsome to drift with a Kat also built right sounds better then Sr and straightway.. who gives a fuck about 240s going straight 240s are built mainly for drift. Unless ur building a drag car. Even for drag ka.t is better then the Sr. Ka.t got my vote. That rb blows his shit good luck geting another one.... Ka.t blows runing and new motor by tomarrow
Y all the hate rb's,sr's ka's dont make a diffrence what u have all well built motors some more powerfull then other what it really comes down is the tune and how well it was built not if is sr or rb is money
My ka-t was faster then a stock rb20, then my timing chain tensioner went out and broke a guide know im in the process of rebuilding it with forged rods and piston.
My ka-t was faster then a stock rb20, then my timing chain tensioner went out and broke a guide know im in the process of rebuilding it with forged rods and piston.
@davybabyson sr has the best power to weight ratio which is better for drifting and the ka and rb are more for power. i would start out drifting ka then swap for sr or just get a swapped 240 if u can. its what i did.
RB20 is a fuckin waste... all you get is I6 sound thats it... SR20 makes more power with same displacement... and KA's are lame... Have fun shifting at 6k - 6500 rpm where the power band drops off... and 2.4 liter IS NOT big motor.... you can make a SR20 a 2.4 liter and still rev higher than a shitty sounding KA.... KA = heavy as shit and OMG IM IRON YO!!!! SR = light as shit and all aluminium.... RB20 = piece of shit and slow... RB25 or go home....
@akumin12 KA=raise rev limit and shift powerband up with cams. Duh. RB20=Make it rev higher and try 10:1 compression pistons with rb25 or some sort of hybrid turbo that spools quick and moves alot of air
For the money you spend stroking an sr20 out, you can stroke the ka out to a 2.6L. Sometimes it's the builder that fails, not the engine. Get what i'm saying here? But yeah, keep hating and spreading your misinformation to people who are new to all of this. It's good for the community!
@LEterribleONE u seem to know alot about cars but raising a turbod engine compress ratio to 10 is completely stupid ... anything over a 9 will blow the engine if the turbo is even a slight bit to big and/or runnign more than 8 psi
@BDucasse21 there's nothing wrong with raising the compression as long as its tuned correctly. running higher compression also increases the car's driveability. 4g63 guys have been doing it for some time now. you see 10.5:1 with big precision turbos all the time now, but proper tuning is a must. if you spend the time and money to beef up the internals (arp hardware, rods and high comp. pistons), i would hope you would spend the extra $ and get a real EMS, not a rom for "x" upgrades
@Jalopy361 lol ok bro.. i ve seen first hand how a turbod engine can blow with a 9.5:1 compression... thats way to much pressure it has nothing to do with the ecu... you can blow a hole through the pistons and or snap conrods with such high pressure .. electrical tunning has nothing to do with the pressure at 8psi blowing an engine...
@Jalopy361 running a higher comp ratio with a turbo is also a bit to much for a stock ka to handle. rlly any street driven car doesnt need a comp ratio of more than 9. the ka stock comp is 9:5:1 as mentioned earlier which is arledy higher than most other L4s. for a turbo charged Ka its reccommended that the 8:5:5( i think) for be ka-t results. i dont think the ecu of a nissan older thant 95 has little effect on the engine.
@akumin12 who the fuck says KAs suck a stock Ka-t runs higher horsepower and torque(about 40Hp) more than the SR20 PLUS at the 7-psi(stock sr20 boost) its far more reliable i hear about ppl blowing there SRs all the time. Rb25 is good but who can pay for the swap. what im trying to say is get more facts about the y the Rb25 is awsome. all of the engines are great builds for one who has the time. 1500 into a KA will make just as fast as the rb25. 1500+ for a fast Ka or 1500+ for a stock SR/RBswap
your a tool if you think a Stock boost SR will pop before a fuckin KA-t... there is a REASON that every country besides usa got the SR20. suck it fag KAs suck balls. your just a faggot fan boy who has prolly never even owned a turbo car.
@akumin12 Hey hey hey, easy with what you say there. They're both great but don't say one sucks balls, because it doesn't. You just think the sr is better because modifiedmag told you so. And don't call someone else a "faggot fan boy" when you're the one kissing ass to the sr.
@akumin12 ummmmmm your a fuking 14 year old kid who prolly doest even know what double clutching is....not ever country uses sr motors only japan but over in uk and shit they use ca18's
@500hpKA240sx how bout u watch my videos dumbshit and stop watching F&F movies you stupid fuckin nigger... who the fuck honestly is going to push the clutch in TWO FUCKING TIMES when racing down a drag strip or being a red light warrior? honestly please find 1 video of someone pushing in clutch putting in neutral then pushing in clutch and putting in next gear... FUCKING STUPID!
@akumin12 um the way you speak i.e. type bothers the fuck out of me even your raciest enuendo so booo plus i respect the ka motor cause i to drive a 240 with the ka (ka kicks ass thats what a ka means) but racisum ill automatically thumb the fuck down later ...i d i o t
@akumin12 A stock SR WILL blow before a KA does. KAs are extremely strong engines and to make them better they basically come stock has a stroker engine. I used to run a 100% Tomei built s14 sr20 with s15 turbo in my drift car for 3 years. everything possible was done to it and it was running around 17 or 18 psi with about 500 to 550 hp. I always snapped rocker arms dropped valves and what finally did the engine was when i snapped a rod. now i have a basically stock ka24det. no problems at all.
@dpstarcom haha, every person who has a SR has owned a KA. So why do they agree that the SR is better? With my experiences, my KA sucked balls. rattling chain, lost power at random times, oil leaking... etc. the sr20det solved my problems. Now i have it as my weekend warrior for every meet and race it and give it hell and its still running strong. All i know is that the SR > KA. fastest at the quarter mile between the two? SR all day son!!!

sr20 is a short stroke motor and that is what turbos thrive on so thats why the ka being a 2.4 with a turbo didnt do so well
