@khet10 Shale has the energy of a baked potato and like a potato it is no good untill you bake it. Shale oil isn't oil but an oil equivelent called kerogen. It takes 1.1 tons of shale rock to make 1 barrel (42gallons) of kerogen. Shale has to be mined transported and heated to 8500F to get the kerogen from the rock. Do you know how much energy it takes to heat a ton of rock to 1/3 the temprature of the sun? They have been trying to use shale for 90 years and it will never work.

Many companies want to fund research for it when they SHOULD be putting money into energy methods that won't run out like shale eventually will.
