  • Idiot on parade... go away you fat fool!

  • no, you're insane (and a crook) you bloated fuck

  • You're a fucking insanity, you retard!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck this retarded faggot!!!!!!!!!

  • Limousine liberals like him don't give a fuck how high fuel prices are, they can go wherever they want whenever they want in their private jets, cost be damned

  • He is right.

Shale requires more energy to extract and refine than you get from the oil itself.

    Oil shale is utter stupidity.

  • @MsZeitgeist85 if our country puts the money into the process, you will find yourself eating those words. shale oil will pay itself off, it just needs funding, like any other process. it is dirty now, but with technological advances that are certain to come, it will progress. I am certainly not saying that this is our solution with oil- we do need alternative energies, but until you can run semi trucks, armies, and the general population completely on alternative energies, we need to use shale

  • @khet10 Shale has the energy of a baked potato and like a potato it is no good untill you bake it. Shale oil isn't oil but an oil equivelent called kerogen. It takes 1.1 tons of shale rock to make 1 barrel (42gallons) of kerogen. Shale has to be mined transported and heated to 8500F to get the kerogen from the rock. Do you know how much energy it takes to heat a ton of rock to 1/3 the temprature of the sun? They have been trying to use shale for 90 years and it will never work.

  • @MsZeitgeist85 You have an extra 0 in your temperature. It should read 850F. 8500F is almost 5000 Kelvin; with the sun's surface being almost 5800K

  • @MsZeitgeist85 It doesn't require more energy to refine than you get you drooling dipshit. There are many oil exports around the world that get their oil from shale, Canada being the biggest. Use common sense please..if you have any.

  • @njdevil281 1. Canada is not have Oil Shale it has Tar Sands known as Bitumen which is very diffrent. 2. I said extract AND refining dipshit. It does require more energy. In the refining of shale it takes 1.1 ton of Shale Rock to make 1 barrel of Kerogen. In the refining process it has to be heated to 8500 degrees. That takes alot of energy.

  • @MsZeitgeist85 plus, it requires alot of poisonous chemicals that you pump into the ground to get out, that would make our drinking water undrinkable.

  • Well, if Al Gore says it is utter insanity, then it MUST be the right thing to do. Shale oil will make the US the new Saudi Arabia. Thanks for your endorsement, Al.

  • I'd say the strategically sound move would be to do just enough mining and exploring to be able to believable threaten OPEC with using our own oil every time they jack up the prices.

  • If we don't get oil from oil shale, then the United States won't have enough energy for Al Gore to live his extravagant lifestyle ;-) :-P Private jets aren't exactly fueled by pixy dust.

  • @CrossoverManiac You gotta give the guy some credit for making a valid point though. Oil shale IS polluting the atmosphere at a much more dangerous rate than regular crude oil. Many companies want to fund research for it when they SHOULD be putting money into energy methods that won't run out like shale eventually will.

  • @sullgass give him credit for private jets and multiple homes across the country. hypocrisy. he doesn't lead by example.

  • @onojmai He's wealthy from the money he made, if u had that much money wouldn't you want to enjoy it. Of course he's not a perfect role model, but at least he is spending alot of his time promoting renewable energy when he could have retired and spent his entire time at the beach or in his mansion, but instead he's trying to help spread an important message.

  • @onojmai i'm not telling him how to spend his money, but to put his money where his mouth is. Americans are high mass consumers. the "ultra high net wealth individual" like Mr. Gore consumes several orders of magnitude greater than the average human on this earth. He preaches a valuable message- yet his actions remain in direct opposition to that message. He is a believer in sustainability, but he makes only token gestures of not living the conspicuously good life of the very wealthy.

  • Co2 in excess of natural cycles is indeed one of the GHGs amplyfying the greenhouse effect. Matter of fact, it is the dominant radiative forcing. Only an oil rep or someone paid by one would say otherwise.

  • Co2 CAUSES warming. Try reading a science book.

  • Gore's angling for president down the track. He MUST know that a lot of his science is rubbish.

  • Gore go to hell.

  • Gore's a liar

  • He needs to come out of the closet already!

Ericindiana.... I agree with you 100%.. but just for debate... using up the rest of the worlds oil first while we remaine a world power and such... isn't that a good thing??

  • Do you know how we know that Oil Shale is a HUGE deal?

Because Al Gore calls it utterly insane.

It would be utterly insane to ween ourselves off foreign oil and use our own. Thats just crazy talk.

  • LIAR LIAR LIAR

Al Gore is such a fucking liar.

We are already causing the same amount of CO2 by using Middle Eastern Oil, only difference is we wont have to spill our childrens blood in getting it.

They dont want Oil Shale, because it is Americas Geo-Political strategy to use up all of the oil in the Middle East first and then have America be the worlds provider of oil.

Not to mention the fact that Al Gores version of Global Warming is a total myth. CO2 lags BEHIND the rise in temperature.

  • Al Gore is the High Priest of the Global Warming Liars Crowd!

Libtards are in the way of solutions. Environmentalist's roadblock on everything from crapping in a hole in the ground, your BBQ grill and soon your gardening... They are about controlling our lives from day one to the day they euthanize us at 65.

I say Kill them all and dump their bodies in the deserts of the Sahara to fertilize the sand...

  • "I say Kill them all and dump their bodies in the deserts of the Sahara to fertilize the sand... "

haha, that would be like using one of their own 'the end justifies the means arguments' against them.

Just imagine all the starving children we could feed!

  • @EricIndiana Al Gore's version? What a load. It is the version of scientists since Tyndall in 1859. And again CO2 TRAPS HEAT. You haters aren't up on real science are you? And just go to Pennsylvania, Texas, Wyoming, or any of the other states where fracking is now destroying people's land, environment, farms, livelihoods,,and toxifyign their water. You people are absolutely CLUELESS.

  • @waterforpeople Clueless? I dont think so sweetheart. Al Gores version is the BS hockeystick graph effect you CO2 haters cling to. The rise in CO2 came AFTER the rise in Temp... NOT before. That just blows your whole CO2 theory out of the water.

And what about the Medieval Warm Period, how did CO2 cause that?

Oh thats right, global warming scientists like to pretend that never happened.

I am against pollution, but lets not jump the gun and say it is all a result of CO2 when it aint.

  • Gore is utterly insane..:)

  • @Orion602 hahah from american psycho right

  • Enivormental facism....
