the first time i heard this nasheed was when i was going through my english coursework. i had to find soo much detail in hopeless paragraphs in useless poems and stories. but when i first heard this nasheed, my brain exploded, the amount of detail with the story is just astonishing. im sorry if i sound confusing but i find it so amazing i cant put it into words, may Allah give you jannah Dawud Wharnsby
To me this sounds a lot like an anology of how the Prophet PBUH came to mankind and taught us a new way of life - a purpose of life. that we shouldn't just hide away, but we should learn and spread our deen.
@wodun9 your argument on "limiting God" (Nauzhubillah) is intrinsically flawed. God is absolute; we, His servants, are not. Although God is not anthromorphic as many religions assert, nor is He a part of His creation. The Quran clearly states: "InnAllaha laghaniyyun anil Alimeen":Allah is free/Self-Sufficient above the Worlds, above His creation. As Suratal Hadid says, Allah is "Al-Awwal Al-Akhir Al-Zahir Al-Batin" the First, the Last, the Manifest, the Obscure. He is not a part of His creation
i want to ask you all. is Dawud Wharnsby Ali a real muslim? because in wikipedia about him said of his clearly states Dawud's religious ideology as being "Inspired by transcendentalist philosophy and scriptures from all times and all places," including "the wisdom of Native American spirituality, Unitarian Universalism, teachings of the Buddha, the philosophy of Tao (The Way), the words of Al Quran and most importantly, through daily self-reflection and connection with nature."
@wodun9 the actual fact that we are HUMAN! what is the definition of being human? to err and make mistakes. we are not perfect and thats what makes us beautiful...god however is perfect...
Yea but our spirits were created by GOD - U didn't exist before you were born - but God has always existed, so technically our spirits are not eternal - only eternal in the sense that long into the future we will still be around - but what about before we were created? how much time passed before us? how long has the universe been around? and long before that what existed?? - if we were God we would know the answer to all these questions - we can't even define the words soul/spirit. :S
Seek truth whether it be against yourself, take the journey less traveled and leave your comfort zone in the pursuit of the straight path. Thats what this song always makes me think. 3:00 - 3:15 (my FAV!)
Everything is God's. Apostrophe 's. We're far too imperfect and everything that has a beginning and an ending, is not God. God is the absolute, the eternal. (Surah Ikhlas)
Mashaallah, This sounds like the analogy of the cave :), those with out the light of Allah are the like the prisoners of the Boxes and caves.
"They seek to put out the light of Allah(SWT) with their mouths, but Allah(SWT) will bring his light into perfection, even though the unbelievers hate it!"
salam and also jumoja there will bee people thta will go to hell that is wat islam is about belive in 1 god and his messnger and fallow the rules that god hyas sent us and if we do we will b saved as for people that dont belive in 1 god they will punished.
kumoja, why do u think you and i were created. there's got to be a reason. This world is a test, to do good and refrain from evil. if you do wrong you'll be punished but can ask for forgiveness once you realise you mistake. but hey if there wern't any evil temptations to test us then there would be no point in God creating this world. and please could you stop referring to Allah as prejudice. what happened to islam not respecting other religions when you yourself don't respect ISLAM
Hi kumoja. Okay, so lets discuss it from the perspective that someone just decided to come up with their own 'religion'. So a couple of questions...someone who decides to have his own 'book'...
1. what are all the possible motivators and benefits?
2. how long would it take? would you say that someone who thought they should have their own book, would have created the book first and then went around telling ppl about it?
3. how much and to what extent would sumone suffer for a lie they made?
Also, just wanted to point out to ure statement thatu dont need religion to tell u to seek knowledge...thats actually not tru...in north america for example, were women always allowed to attend school or go to university? The answer is no they werent. They had to gain those rights with time. They figured it out eventually with 'modernity', but it wasnt always the case. In this case, Islam was 'modern' enough 1400 years ago to obligate everyone to it.
further, one of the main pts i was making with the hole knowledge thing, was that you are incorrect in saying Islam doesnt want u asking questions or thinking, but rather that it even encouraged it and obligated it, contrary to what u were saying.
hi kumoja, Muslims believe that God is all knowing, etc, however, He didnt create us as evil. For example, we dont belive in the original sin. We believe everyone is born pure and 'good' with a clean record. However, we do believe that a person can be swayed or tempted, by satan for example, into doing sumthing wrong but their natural state isnt so and we believe that everyone has a will and makes their own choices...so to recap, ppl are born pure, are responsible for their own actions,
and can be tempted into doing sumthin wrong. He didnt make us evil people, but some people decide to do wrong. If God made some ppl evil, that means they can nvr change or theyll always b considered as such, but in Islam thats not tru because u can always change who u r and what u do and so long as u repent and try to stop watever wrong that u r doing, God can forgive u..
this life is not fair because we are in control of our decisions, and so some ppl get the shorter end of the stick...but in the next life, God will judge each person accordingly and giv them what they deserve...if u rape or kill and nvr repent or stop ure ways, then yes, that person is deserving of punishment such as hell.
if u do well in work, u get a promotion, u do bad, u get fired...its not blackmail...that IS equality. is it fair that a murderer and a rapist recieve the same ending upon death, as someone who dedicated their life to helping ppl or even jus being a generally gud person? is that what u call equality.
its not blackmail, its enjoining in wats good and forbiddin wats wrong.
do u hav kids? how do u teach them good or bad? Do u let them run around doing nething they want? Do u not hav to punish them sumtimes, mayb grounding them? Do u not reward them when they are polite, share, get gud grades? Even in school...u do well, u get rewarded by gud grades, post secondary ed, etc, and if u dont study, etc u get bad grades, parents get upset, limit ure options, etc generally speaking...
i nvr said that it wasnt a negative thing, like i said earlier: 'its the arabic term for a non believer. it has a neg connotaion ofc but why shudnt it..'
sumone who rejects the holocost is literally punished and all ties are severed from them...but ppl dont want those who reject God, their own creator, to be cautioned theyll b punished unless God chooses to forgive them and be called an unbeliever...theres no logic in that itself i belive. feel free to pm me. peace.
and therefore, no one would have ever thought twice about God, or religion or if the way they are following is the truth or not. Further, its a bit funny no offense, that u hav a problem being called a kafir...whats rong with that and is it not tru considering it means a non believer....are u or arnt u a beliver in Islam? youre not so whats the prob with that? its the arabic term for a non believer. it has a neg connotaion ofc but why shudnt it..
hi. we are actually obligated to seek knowledge 'from the cradle to the grave', men and women alike. and we are COUNTLESSLY told to reflect and ponder about about the world around us and not jus go thru life doing what everyone else is doing. one ex is to seek cures for disease. if one was not allowed to think or question, then no one wud have believed the prophet, peace be upon him when he was telling them about islam, because that would mean tht God does not want ppl to think or question,
true, the prophet is callin' for the people of the book I mean the box..Quran "Nay, but (we follow) the religion of Abraham, the upright, and he was not of the idolaters. Say : We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which Moses and Jesus received, and that which the prophets received from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them and unto Him we have surrendered."...
IF WE HIDE OURSELVES AWAY, AFRAID TO GROW AND LEARN, WE MIGHT WAKE UP IN THE FLAMES OF THE IGNORANCE THAT BURNS...AND WELL NEVER BE MUCH MORE, THAN CASUALTIES OF WAR..

5. how long do you think it would take before inconsistencies would start to arise throughout ure book?
6. what can make sumone stick so hard to something so difficult yet continue to endure it patiently (besides belief in it) ?
7.would u give up ure life, family, possessions, wealth, time and health for a lie that you made up and watch your loved ones do the same?
