I am a teacher/lecturer. The insights here really appeal to me for what it can help me do performatively in the classroom. Any recommendations as to what to read/look at for learning to incorporate good acting as an educator?
this video fills me with joy and sends a good message to a world that i too would like to grow in. I have to say though, the violin in the background was a bit distracting and whoever edits (or doesnt edit) your stuff should be more creative...
I have no interest in getting into a discussion about teaching with someone like yourself. I simply find it extremely pretentious and downright mean-spirited for a person to target the videos of teachers and artists. The comments you made about Mr. Jarrett and Ms. Flanigan were incredibly disrespectful, and I find you to be an embarrassment to what teachers of actors should model - integrity and respect for other artists.
Actually 'vacheron,' each Meisner teacher (if they were legitimately chosen and trained BY Sandy to carry on his teachings) should NOT have 'some important differences,' as you say. They should teach it purely the way Sanford Meisner intended. And I doubt you do, based on your words here.
@NotEntirelyMyself - From talking to people whom I met who were trained by Sandy as actors, and as teachers, over the years, it is reasonable to say that Sandy changed somewhat over time. Individual teachers that Sandy trained are bound to have some differences in their teaching style. The fundamental principles remain the same, however.
@NotEntirelyMyself - Several teachers whom Sandy trained told me that it was impossible to "BE SANDY." Some other teachers have tried to impersonate his individual manner and personality (which I came to love, by the way). Sandy's unique sense of humor leavened the process. Personally, I'm wary of people who don't exhibit some humor, especially when dealing with something as important as life and art.
Oh man. I have no idea what compels a person to comment on an individual they have never met.
"Processing experience" refers to living out the imaginary circumstance in your body instead of just intellectually dry-cleaning the characters. You understand a circumstance with your heart.
Secondly, the two year old inside of us is our spontaneous reactions to how we are treated. Its the opposite of an adult pedestrian that has been conditioned to be polite and reserved more often than not.
Maggie is a force. She is simple. She is truthful. I am envious of those who get to study under her for the first time and discover what it means to really live under imaginary circumstances. Long live Maggie!

I'm with you BaileyMaddie. Vacheron is incredibly disrespectful and yet thinks that he is doing everyone a favor on speaking his mind. Ridiculous.
Also, Maggie Flanigan taught at the Bill Esper studio where she was highly respected before founding her own school.
