I got in trouble on my first calculus test for forgetting to put the limit notation. Maybe it's something you can include on your videos, because it is an mistake some people make. You have to use the limit notation untill you plug the limit into the equation.
@patrickJMT You are the best. I was just trying to help out. I know im one of those people who like to just do lots of math without notations witch got me in trouble a lot in limits derivateves and intergals lol. I just thought you can do the math and people are suppost to get what I am doing....... bad habbit
@aljensen2001 well, if you are doing it on your own, you can be a bit more ' loose ' although even then i would not recommend it. mathematicians are trained to be very very detail oriented, so keep that in mind when testing! make it look like a beautiful work of crystal clear art.
Dude...thanks so much....I don't know how I could possibly thank you for your videos, they've helped so much...do you accept hug's and kisses....lol> no jokes..thanks man..you outta go into teaching.
your mini videos = to my math professor's 2hr 15min lecture! my professor suck ass at teaching his name is Hiley and he can confuse the fuck outta anyone the way he takes 30minutes to solve a doubt sum. Your videos saved my life and now im confident on aceing my math test this friday. (ive done calc in my IB diploma highschool before and i must say it was 10times more versatile than college shit) I mean for 3weeks we're still stuck on focusing on limits even though its not that important!
Now that I have found you, I am deathly afraid that one day I will wake up and you will be gone. I finally get this stuff, and I just know you're my only hope in Calc!
math is a notion represented by inanimate symbols representing a desired or unkown quantity, it is the base of our lives, and our lives rotate around it, it is the base for every natual phylosophy, and more abstract phylosophy too
I just pff..I guess the word perfect doesn't describe you in the best way ...you are my mathman thank you a lot...I am doing now limits without any problem the reason of that is u ..so thank you many times...

OMG!!! You are a life saver. I recently broke my leg trying out fo roller derby, so I have no been able to go class, and my math calss has been doing limits. This video is really helping me catch up and do my homework. I have a final exam soon, and so far you are helping me out!! Thanks for putting these vids up :D
@claudiaaaa08 Not liking math is similar to not liking vegetables. You don't have to like it, but complete avoidance usually leads to serious reprocussions.
@Noremae Me too! What's important is that you remember that once you know it, you're set. Of course, then you always have to learn something else, but try to view it optimistically...
wish I found these videos in the beginning of this semester but I guess it's never too late...I think you might help me pass, because my teacher certainly isn't going to! thanks for the help! :)
My calculus teacher only makes fun of me and says go back to algabra. I secretly want to stuff his head in those things that make mulch. hehe. I wish i had you as my teacher all my teacher can do is talk about his kids all the F@#$ time and never help us when we get lost
Um well this video is certiantly made by a very well educated person. But I'm only in sixth grade so I only know parts. Can u do something easier next time? :P
fucking hell that is alot of work for a sum like that. I hate fractions. Damn i have to spend alot of time with these so i can get comfortable with fractions.
i think my cal i s ap level i swear to god the questions i have are so much harder i have remember double ngl eidentities and everything arghhhhhhhhhh help me on removeable and non removable and greatest integer omfggggggggggg
omg flaw you forgot the equals sign when you started on the second piece of paper :P but your still a really awesome teacher and i could never understand how to do this from my professor at school... thank you so much.
Uderstand the algebra in this example: First, simplify the numerator: 1. Remove the negative power of the two terms in the numerator. Flip each terms, making them become fractions. 2. Solve these two fractions, by finding a common denominator which is 3(3+h). So he got
3-(3+h)/ (3+h) in the numerator. Distribute the negative sign and get 3-3-h/3(3+h) = -h/3(3+h) in the numerator. Now, remember the h in the denominator => -h/3(3+h)/ h. Flip and get ..continued
Now plug in h->0 and get - 1/3(3+0) = -1/3(3) = -1/3*3= -1/9
Key is that in this kind of limit problem, find things that can cancel out before plugging in. So you need to determine whether a problem is direct plug in type or not. For example, all polynomials are plug in type. This problem was not polynomial. Still, you can plug in see that it becomes 0/0 and so you know it's not a plug in type.
well, functions are introduced in algebra, which is middle school stuff: i would say typically around 8th grade (far too late in my opinion), although a few people may see it sooner/later.
I used your method, but now I have a six in the denominator and a zero in the numerator. Is this a proper answer?

how did you get the -h? i dont get that part
MadManCael 2 months ago
@MadManCael he subtracted 3 from (3+h), which is 3-(3+h), and you have to distribute the negative, so it makes 3-3-h, which leaves -h.

3-(3+h)= -h..... You have to distribute the negative sign to both the 3 AND the h in the (3+h). :-)
Whoeee09 2 years ago
isnt 3-(3+h) = h instead of -h?
jianzzz88 2 years ago
you have to distribute the - . Think of it as 3-1(3+h) so it will equal 3-3-h = -h
