  • Trivia: Rafer Johnson did NOT light the cauldron in 1984. He light the rings underneath, but a switch in the press box finished the job. Source: Wikipedia.

    Try to dispute that, dontbeapunk.

  • @hachibeach151 Yeah, Wikipedia...really reliable source.

  • @nosuchpersonvideo Right. I can sense the sarcasm in your post indeed. That's because it IS reliable.

  • @hachibeach151 No sarcasm. I'm dead serious. Wikipedia is often filled with flaws because of its user-fed structure.

  • @nosuchpersonvideo Well Isn't that why Wikipedia as a resource continues to be improved on because of its users, who know more about the subject than others? And how about this: you can do US netizens a favor and help fix the flaws to make it more useful instead of pissing in the wind out here on YouTube and doing nothing!

After all, you're a user, riiiiiight? Ignoramus.

Thanks You Antonio. Always in my mind!

  • It looks like that the arrow COULD have hit the couldren and deflected out. The flame looks different as it passes past the cauldren.

  • He was already known as "Flamero" known as flaming archer

  • I understand others views.

I saw the other angle and view, and he hit the target.

  • watch?v=Fca-MbAKOV0

  • Hi, I did watch it, and it did. I'm sure the gas was put on full, so any near hit by it would have lit it.

  • I remember watching this clip on the opening of the 96...brilliant...best ever.

  • Absolutly fantastic moment in the modern history of the olimpic Games.

  • I think he got it right and hit the mark. It's possible he missed it, but I think hit it on.

  • I understand your view. I watched and it hit the target. I saw the other slow motion, and it hit it.

  • With respect to you. The target was hit. The slow motion you showed, it did hit the target.

  • I think he hit it right.

  • apparently he deliberately fired it too far as it was too risky if it fell short or whatever. but from the camera angle it was cleverly hidden.

  • yep thats correct. He over shot the arrow, the camera angle hides its descent behind the torch.I remember seeing a peice of footage soon after this ceremony on UKs GMTV that showed it from a different angle.I guess someone got a surprise in the carpark.

  • Actually a "Guàrdia Urbana" agent (Barcelona's local police) picked the arrow when it hit the ground behind the stadium. Now that arrow is exposed at the Olympic and Sports Museum near the stadium.

  • I understand. I saw the other angle and view, he hit the target.
