I saw them make a spanner wrench that really worked and a full size motorcycle but you couldn't ride it because it wasn't strong enough. Of course it also wouldn't have a working engine would it? They can make a human head model that is creepy to see. Incredible what they can do!
What about things with screws and bolts? If you scan something, how does it know that there is a literal screw and all the inner components? Or does something that complex have to be created with the software?
@HAYSQ i've looked this up a for awhile now and it can print anything that it has sustainable materials for and space in side the chamber. all of the objects that come out can function normally as long as it isn't meant to be used for electrical purposes or meant to be consumed. so in shorter terms. yes it can print anything and it can print objects with a great span of purposes. hope this helped
Our company is using this technology to replicate body parts (primarily spines and skulls) for pre-surgical planning (typically for scoliosis, kypohosis, and craniosynostosis cases). Our models have also been used in personal injury legal cases.
You can follow our YouTube channel (ACRMcorp) or visit our main website (ACRMcorp [dot] com).
You can also see actual patient pathology cases (and purchase 3D models) at Medical3Dmodels [dot] com.
this is cool. but as soon as people start using the product every scientist in the worldis going to be whining about its environmental consequence which they were unaware of like the plastic dilemma.
is there a mini portable version of this printer one with in witch I can put in my mustang arm rest :P. Hehehe I'm thinking about that one episode of Knight Rider where kitt clones a car key from a Ferrari so that they could steel the car. Lol. If there is one let me know :P
I use one of these machines daily, as well as a dimension FDM machine. ZCorp prints in plaster (that's why you have to coat it after) and that will never be as practical as printing in ABS plastic. At least not for engineering applications.
we all saw this gizmo in jurassic park 3, remember they used it to replicate the nasal cavity of a velociraptor which would go onto save their lives later in the movie!
Now, here's the real question... How much does it cost to buy/lease this thing, and how much are the colour plastic cartridges, and and bulk powder buckets.
Something tells me this device requires very deep pockets, indeed.
@MetalKing010 I'm more appalled by the fact that you have to reach your hands in to blow the residual powder away. Ah, how fascinating it is to witness the birth of a technology!
Amazing,Now hopefully in the Future We Can have this at our Very own Homes AND it Would be Capable of "Printing" Objects With: Metal,Lead and Stainless Steel.

cool although 3d printers have been around for over 20 years (since the mid 80s). Its the first time I've seen the model in color although probably has a higher cost. Hopefully the color is only on the surface. Be cool to get one for home when they are < $250 ... that would be a break through!

back when me and my friends were young we used to joke about printing out hardware from the computer after buying things online. Now this is reality.
AX53B60 1 year ago
this machine isn't much more complicated than a regular ink-jet printer.
It's just the lack of competition and maybe patents on materials that's keeping the price high for now.
In fact, if it were mass produced it would more more expensive for being bulky than for any other reason. These things could be 3-5k I bet.
