Well, let's be realistic here. I have parrots, and I have chickens - both as pets. BUT, a chicken is as much like a parrot as a finger monkey is to a human. There are extraordinary differences in intelligence as well as care requirements (stimulation needs to remain healthy). Making incorrect statements in support of compassion may be better than doing so in support of cruelty, but the best route would be one of honesty.

It is our responsibility to make the connection and help the poor animals. Most of us ignore it, most of us never touched a chicken.....

It is sad isn't it that some birds have our love while others are viewed only as food. We can change that ~ if only we want to. We should.
