  • No, it's called Shoegaze because song lyrics were written on paper and kept on the floor while playing.

It LOOKED like they were gazing at their shoes but in reality they were reading lyrics! Stunning. Too much drugs methinks.

  • The Jesus and Mary Chain are not shoegazers. They are a noise pop group.

  • One week ago I was listening to Lush and then my mate came into my room and said: Wao! Since when do you like shoegazing?

I was like What the fuck? I did not know what that genere means.

Why music, I mean simply and pure music, has to have weird style names?

I mean, come on is just music. I dont like being label.

  • @Jauckor Hipster "I don't like being labeled"

  • Try Flying Saucer Attack, very uplifting shoegaze/space rock. My Dreaming Hill is probably one of my favourite gaze songs from 90s along with Breather by Chapterhouse. I'm still looking for bands all the time, if you have suggestions. Shoegaze :) :) :)......

  • Catherine Wheel is my favorite shoegazer group!

  • good song and video

  • Awesome music, awesome bands! Great compilation! The few, the pruoud, the shoegazers!!!

  • this song is gorgeous. Wish I knew more SG bands; all i know is MBV and they kinda...I just don't like them.

  • I'm pretty sure there are more labels given to slightly different types of music than there are species on the planet.

  • Where is Swervedriver?

  • I can't get the song by Mellonta Tauta on iTunes, does anyone know how I could purchase it?

  • @irishMICHIELI

You find in amazon or eBay

  • @irishMICHIELI Download a program called mp3 rocket. You can turn youtube videos into mp3. I use it for all my music now lol.

  • @irishMICHIELI why purchase it when you can download it for free right here on youtube, just google youtube downloader on firefox and download the software(free) then just pick the type of file you want to download it as and its all yours.

  • :D i love shoegazing ;D

  • @mcKallzor hey. can you recommend me any shoegazing songs/bands?

  • @jmorris724 Drop Nineteens,My Bloody valentine,The Verve,Last Days Of April...And those are just a few ;)

  • @mcKallzor thanks for the help, but i don't like MVB, and I'm not sure that Verve is shoegazing. Any other bands?

  • @jmorris724 Verve was shoegazer,

  • @BeniGallagher 4 rlz?

  • @jmorris724 HerpDerp...No But i know a band called logh, It has SOME shoegazing elements in some of their songs

  • Nice tribute & great track but i noticed a absence of Chapterhouse and The Telescopes, or i missed them in the vid :)

  • @Tidpole Sorry I forget the Masterpiece - Chapterhouse - Whirlpool and The Telescopes, but i put this bands in my socond video Shoegazer Tribute Pt2. Thanks!!!

  • see, everyone says that this is the music of dreams, but my dreams sound nothing like this, infact I could even say that this is the most non-dreamy music I can recall hearing.

    still good though.

  • Thank you guys for this...

  • what is this song and who is the band?

  • @nothingUneed2no the song is "Dawn" by Mellonta Tauta (shoegazers from argentina)

  • @cvijetics they are from Argentina?? cool

  • where are ....the ocean pipes? their shoegaze is trippy and raw

  • i guess this as good as anywhere to dump my theory:

Shoegaze can always be defined by two concepts.

    1. (the obvious) tons of effects. Shimmering guitars are a bare minimum.

    2. New Wave + No Wave influences. The use of harsh, ugly elements in parallel with beautiful, alluring sounds. Hence the soft female vocals hidden between crashing waves of distorted guitars. I dont know why Im saying this but I have had this thesis on my mind for a while.

  • great era for music !!

  • Great!

  • jesus and mary chain

  • Isn't Anything!!

  • check out "all natural lemon and lime flavors"

  • All natural lemon is a great band

  • wut about LUSH they sound like shoegaze

  • I LOVE this....really takes me back! ;) There is nothing in the world like shoegaze. It's the stuff that dreams are made of. <3

  • Its true really Shoegaze is a magical song beyond the dreams.

  • this song is incredible. i just ordered the album off of amazon i liked it so much. perfection.

  • i'm in LOVE with Rachel Goswell<333

  • I love her so much Rachel Goswell is my favorite singer is an angel and Slowdive is my favorite Shoegaze band.

  • Loveless!!!!!!

  • so wats the difference between like shoegaze and post rock.

and im new to this type of music so if anyone could give me suggestions that would be awesome

  • Shoegaze many times shares the structure of a typical post-rock song, but not necessarily. There are more shoegazing songs that are structured like traditional pop/rock songs, than there are post-rock ones, I think.

A big thing in shoegazing is, however, effects. Generally there is a lot of delays and choruses and whatnot going on at the same time. The name of the genre comes from players who just stare their effect pedals during the whole gig :)

    This creates an ambient/ethereal feeling.

  • Perfect Explanation!!!

  • The use of distortion. Shoegazing use a LOT of distortion.

  • where i can download this song!!x3x3x3!!

  • oh and nice choice for the video's song. very nice and dreamy. ah, love it.

  • yay lush @2.41!!!!

  • where's happymondays, they're shoegazer aren't they?

  • nope nope nope...Happy Mondays were far from Gaze and their stuff was much different than the other Madchester bands like Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets & Charlatans UK.....

  • I absolutely adore that Daysleepers EP

  • WOOOW!!!

    FANTASTIC!!!

    PERFECT!!!

  • This is a pretty good song, thanks for posting.

  • i miss those days... nice mix.

  • @2:41 Love Life is far from shoegaze, Spooky should have been there instead! :(

  • definitely agree although my choice would've been Gala....Lush's best by far...didnt see Chapterhouse in there also?

  • lovelife isn't shoegaze, no. it's more britpop/post-punk, but it's still a great album. spooky and split are lush's best.

  • Sorry i forget Chapterhouse - Whirlpool one's best album of 90's

  • I love Chucao also

  • This style just has that strange eeriness that pulls you in you know? ;]

  • Fantastic! Great choice for the music; Melonta Tauta's "Pull the Chariot" will always be one of my favorites.
