Mio Knight Rider - Voice

i agre, the kitt voice we like whas recorded almost 30 years ago.

It would work if mr daniels spoke up a bit more and if they raised the pich a bit. it would also be better if they recorded lines insted of singal words.

Yes, it IS actually William Daniels. It's been over 20 years since Knight Rider, so his voice has aged a bit.

It's important to note that the KITT voice does not give you actual street names. However, there are generic male and female TTS (Text To Speech) voices that come with the unit that do provide street names during navigation.

The voice isn't right. Thats a big turn off for me. The voice is close,but its not the same as William Daniels.

Take the fun out of it. Plus it his speech patterns sound a bit generic. You would think with technology nowadays they could of made a better more realistic speaking voice rather then a voice that pauses in between words without speaking fluently and casually. I was gonna get one,but this is sort of a disappointment.

Its to computerized sounding. Also at some parts where he speaks it doesn't sound like his voice. It sounds like William Daniels at very few parts such as "Micheal" for example,but then at other parts the voice deepens and it doesn't sound like William Daniels. Specifically the parts where he says "Today" "Continue Straight" "Second Right" "Quarter" "Four hundred". It sounds like a cheap deep computer imitation of his voice.

This GPS doesn't do William Daniels or the show any justice.

I've seen people that have Knight Rider replica cars with better speaking voice boxes in their car dash boards then what this GPS puts out.

Of course a $40,000 KITT replica is going to sound better. This is a $200 gps, what do you expect? These things aren't exactly know for their sound quality.

The Voice between the GPS and the Voice box used for the Replica cars are in question. Not the entire 40,000 dollar car. Just the $100.00 voice box.

For an official Knight rider product i expect a voice that doesn't sound like crap. You make it sound like its difficult. I have 2 standard GPS units with no pauses or fluctuations in voice both costing $100.00. Cheap.

I stand by my previous comment. For and official product that is being mass produced it was created very poorly. The GPS navigation itself is simple enough and the concept could be copied off other GPS units.

Editing the Voice itself is a simple and cheap task that was done badly and its the only thing they had to do that sets this GPS unit apart from all the others. So for $200.00 i expect something with a decent speaking voice that sounds like K.I.T.T otherwise a standard GPS can do the same.

The KITT voicebox is actually just a type of spectrum analyzer. All it does is respond to audio being sent through an audio in plug located on the box. KITT's voice would have to originate from another source. The sound itself comes out of the speakers. Normally, you have to have a computer installed in your car and load it up with voice recognition software and prerecorded KITT phrases so that it can respond to your commands. Or you could just burn a cd with some phrases and use that I guess.

Yeah true. Thats pretty much what most people do when programming and setting up the equipment in the car. They get the voice prerecorded from the show itself which seems to have the best quality from the look of things. Only problem with the setup is finding isolated moments to put in for the voicebox in the car where the voice itself isn't being spoken with background music or peeling tire noises,gunshots,screaming,etc. Thats a real pain in the ass since noise happens in the show a lot. lol

It probably doesn't sound as authentic since William Daniels is much older than he was when he first did the voice of K.I.T.T; his voice most likely deepened with age.

The pitch is off with his voice.

William Daniels is 80 though.

If the pitch is raised it would sound more like him.

Mio should really raise the pitch of there sound files before release date or they will have a very mediocre product.

As is, K.I.T.T. sounds like hes "running out of power."

Or his battery is weak or some other such nonsense.

God this thing has the potential to be THE coolest thing made this decade!

I agree. It's a must-have product (and I don't drive much to need a sat nav, even, but I do want one), but the pitch/speed should be increased very slightly (which would be incredibly easy to do) to make it perfect.
