FL Studio is a great program to use. It has hundreds of sampls and VST's already, and you can get tons more.

Cubase 4 or 5. I got 4 but 5 is out. U can get thousands of vsts and it's absolutely awesome m8. Cop it now! Many big artists use it. Get Acid Pro 6 or higher to detect the bpm of ur samples if u have audio loops and then use the same bmp in Cubase.

Fruity Loops is good for rap people, it's simple and to the point.

Reason is more for the more musical people in the sense, it's designed exactly as a rack and can be manipulated the way you could in the real studio.

and to the guy below me saying acid or pro-tools, pro tools is for recording, people don't really use it to produce as much as to record. And Acid? Acid is loop based software, lazy production work... alot of club producers use it.

what kind of crack are you smoking??? ProTools is NOT a sequencer based DAW. In fact, have you ever used PT??? ACID is LOOP-BASED, but you can also record into it directly. FL Studio and Reason are SEQUENCER BASED DAW's!!! Do your research before you shoot your mouth off.

Fruity Loops is the best I say... Why? You can do everything in it. You can sequence and make your own beat with various type of percussions, keys, effects, etc... Almost everything... Try it...

you can do the same thing in Acid...PLUS record AUDIO into it. that's really the only thing i have against FL. Reason is 100x better, especially Thor! That synth is just sick! But again, you can only record MIDI, not audio.
