Andruw Jones has been my favorite baseball player since I started watching baseball. I've been a Braves fan since I can remember and Andruw always had the same approach, hit a homerun. I agree if he learned some patience he'd be hitting for a higher avererage but still he isn't doing all to bad for his 1st season off of a knee injury. Look back at his '04-'06 seasons, probably his best three seasons numbers wise.

because a guy is hitting well doesn't mean he's on steroids. he's always been a low average/high power guy. he was on the decline to an extreme his last year in atlanta. the dodgers were idiots to sign him at that price anyway. now he's with possibly the best hitting coach in the game in texas and he's regaining form. and note...he's hitting 240 with limited playing time and 10 home runs. it's called regaining form....not a continued use of steroids. stop looking for reasons to dislike people.

Andruw NEVER became a confident breaking ball hitter. I've watched him from Rookie to Released and it's the same thing. When the grind hits him and the season becomes a slog, he loses focus on what makes a top hitter hit: confidence in his hands, hips, and shoulders - and maintaining the patience to stay back - even if it means accepting walks and singles.

Some times you gotta take what the pitcher gives you and just settle for a base hit.
