My oppinion on the matter... I'm willing to give it a chance. even the game reboot. It doesn't strike my fancy that they've changed dante so much. But, it doesn't mean that it's going to be a bad game/movie.. may be good, just not the good that we'd hope for.
Hollywood has done a great job fucking up gaming franchises by making loosely based live action movies. Mainly movies like: Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and the list goes on. Now, many of those movies didnt really suck that bad, most of them were pretty good but the bottom line is that they dont follow the games enough which usually ruins the movie right from the get go. As long as it's not live action I think DMC may have a chance.

I a agree with AlphaOmegaSin, Hollywood ruins movies base off of video games; Look at the Super Mario Brothers move! It was truly awful! I don't want to see any characters from Twilight onto DMC; I thought Twilight was more of an insult. And if they do plan to make the move, please let it be put it in CG; at least they can get the voice actor of Dante instead of some actor playing like Dante.

if he attempts to be Dante, he will not be. To me, Dante just is; which is to say that you either do or do not have Dantes attitude; it is not taught but learned through ways that I am not familiar with. Also, doing all the stunts that Dante actually does in the game and anime wouldbe ridiculously difficult for a mere human. Arriving at my point, I do think that an actor portraying Dante could never work. Again, this is my opinion.

If they make a live action movie, it will probobly suck, however, I don't think the producers care about that because they know people would watch it. Yes, people will/have-to watch it to tell eachother how much it sucked. The same thing happened to anime related movies like Dragonball. I didn't watch it because I knew it sucks and the trailers told me enough but other fans have another way of thinking and what that means is, they want to talk about what is so shitty about the movie.

I agree with a lot of what you say Alpha. Not only was this franchise almost damaged by DMC 2 (which isn't too bad but 1 and later versions were better), Ninja Theory and now Hollywood are going to ruin this great series and character. I fear what they are going to do to Sparda and Virgil who are some of my favorite characters, and with what has been done to many other games here's another one to add to the list of casualties. If anything I hope they reconsider and do a CG film instead.
I hate to say but The DMC movie is going to suck. Dmc has have bad luck with other medias unfinished books and mangas, an okay but dull anime. My advice is to treat it like the uncharted movie just ignore it and move on. Pretend that the films just shares the name of the games and the two have nothing in common.
Also Sega may make bad sonic games but what they do to there other series are worse. They kill them off before sales come in and they close more of there in house developers.

The only way a live action movie would be good is if they got Reuben Langdon ( The voice and motion capture for Dante, DMC 3 and 4) to play Dante. Any one else would just suck. But I think that a CGI movie would most likey be the best bet. lets hope right.
If they decide to make the movie badass, then it should just be a remake of Devil May Cry 3. I would love to see a CG fight between Dante and Vergil. Two real action people trying to pull of that kind of fight would be difficult. There would have to be some AWESOME special effects for that to happen. Hopefully it will turn out to be good. Oh also. Heh, I always wondered how Ninja Theory plans to make over 5 million sales on the first week's release of their "DmC." Hollywood has a habit injecting their originality on any title that they can get their hands on, so unless they actually get "inspired" by the actual game's stylized, crazy, high-speed action sequences (slow motion will only ruin it) then they're pretty much doomed from the start.
Oh, and Advent Children was supposed to be an actual game, but was turned into a movie instead.

Basically Paul Anderson or who the fuck ever made the decision that they're gonna make up their own story and characters that have absolutely nothing to do with the series or are related in any way then incorporate the actual characters in later movies but only as supporting characters while we focus on the bullshit we made up. There is literally nothing recognizable from the game in the RE movies. Silent Hill was the best game movie I seen and is what made me give the series another chance
I don't think it would be that hard to translate Dante to the big screen. Especially with the effects of today. The series itself bleeds B movie material. I'm surprised no one thinks it's quite fitting. I could have faith in a movie adaptation but unfortunately they got Paul S Anderson who completely destroyed the Resident Evil movies. Like those are the worst adaptations I've ever seen. Even Uwe Bowl at least attempts to stay true to the source material.
I don't think anything is impossible to portray in film it just depends on the directors interpretation and understanding of the character. That's probably why video-game movies are so terrible. Because the studios and producers are just trying to cash in on the franchise and don't care about the director's interpretation or understanding of the game. Hell they probably don't even care if they even know what the game is. They don't pick directors who are fans of the game. They just want money.

This dmc movie will be uwe boll-level bad. It'll probably be worse than the dragon ball movie and the tekken movie. I wouldn't mind seeing a movie based off the cutscenes of DMC 3. This way, you get more folks interested, thus a bigger budget to make a completely new DMC movie in the future.
Not matter what ninja theory really does it can really only be mediocre at best. Unless they decide on like completly changing up the storyline where it just basically has the DMC atmosphere but not related to the ingame characters it might work. There are a few movies on the top of my head which I can't remember right know that did that and actually pulled it off quite nicely.

if he attempts to be Dante, he will not be. To me, Dante just is; which is to say that you either do or do not have Dantes attitude; it is not taught but learned through ways that I am not familiar with. Also, doing all the stunts that Dante actually does in the game and anime wouldbe ridiculously difficult for a mere human. Arriving at my point, I do think that an actor portraying Dante could never work. Again, this is my opinion.

I agree with a lot of what you say Alpha. Not only was this franchise almost damaged by DMC 2 (which isn't too bad but 1 and later versions were better), Ninja Theory and now Hollywood are going to ruin this great series and character. I fear what they are going to do to Sparda and Virgil who are some of my favorite characters, and with what has been done to many other games here's another one to add to the list of casualties. If anything I hope they reconsider and do a CG film instead.

I hate to say but The DMC movie is going to suck. Dmc has have bad luck with other medias unfinished books and mangas, an okay but dull anime. My advice is to treat it like the uncharted movie just ignore it and move on. Pretend that the films just shares the name of the games and the two have nothing in common.
Also Sega may make bad sonic games but what they do to there other series are worse. They kill them off before sales come in and they close more of there in house developers.

If they decide to make the movie badass, then it should just be a remake of Devil May Cry 3. I would love to see a CG fight between Dante and Vergil. I actually watched another DMC Reboot rant to where they photoshopped the Twilight guys face on the New Dante, and I couldn't tell the difference lol. CG movie like FFVIIAC would be sick. Heh, I always wondered how Ninja Theory plans to make over 5 million sales on the first week's release of their "DmC." Hollywood has a habit injecting their originality on any title that they can get their hands on, so unless they actually get "inspired" by the actual game's stylized, crazy, high-speed action sequences (slow motion will only ruin it) then they're pretty much doomed from the start.
Oh, and Advent Children was supposed to be an actual game, but was turned into a movie instead.

Basically Paul Anderson or who the fuck ever made the decision that they're gonna make up their own story and characters that have absolutely nothing to do with the series or are related in any way then incorporate the actual characters in later movies but only as supporting characters while we focus on the bullshit we made up. There is literally nothing recognizable from the game in the RE movies. Silent Hill was the best game movie I seen and is what made me give the series another chance

I don't think it would be that hard to translate Dante to the big screen. Especially with the effects of today. The series itself bleeds B movie material. I'm surprised no one thinks it's quite fitting. I could have faith in a movie adaptation but unfortunately they got Paul S Anderson who completely destroyed the Resident Evil movies. Like those are the worst adaptations I've ever seen. Even Uwe Bowl at least attempts to stay true to the source material.

I don't think anything is impossible to portray in film it just depends on the directors interpretation and understanding of the character. That's probably why video-game movies are so terrible. Because the studios and producers are just trying to cash in on the franchise and don't care about the director's interpretation or understanding of the game. and not to overratedly rape the comment ssection here but dmc is going to be a prequal, it's going back to dante's "IDGAF" days. the story wont change but they will not be bringing back the look, u know the epic look that makes alucard look like shit, wats being rebooted is the action -.- i will miss the crazy combos, ther replacing it with god of war style hack and slash basically, hopefully more like ninja gaiden though.... just pointing out dont hate me for it man :) im still against it sorta

Personally I could do without a DMC movie. I am not a fan of the games, I stopped playing after 2.
As for the Resident Evil movies, I thought they were ok, although I have not seen the new one, I hear that the movie was not that great.

This dmc movie will be uwe boll-level bad. It'll probably be worse than the dragon ball movie and the tekken movie. I wouldn't mind seeing a movie based off the cutscenes of DMC 3. This way, you get more folks interested, thus a bigger budget to make a completely new DMC movie in the future.

Not matter what ninja theory really does it can really only be mediocre at best. Unless they decide on like completly changing up the storyline where it just basically has the DMC atmosphere but not related to the ingame characters it might work. There are a few movies on the top of my head which I can't remember right know that did that and actually pulled it off quite nicely.

Dante is my favorite character of ALL TIME not just in video games but in any fictional form of media. i refuse to purchase a game that disgraces the cool and badass name of DANTE with some faggot poser. DANTE is a cool badass hardcore METALHEAD who kills demons for a living eats pizza, ice cream and other kickass junkfood because hes cool and he even gives us quality humor by bashing his enemies before he kills them

from a financial and tech standpoint, a CGI film would be more cost effective, and like you said, Dante is going to be damn hard to act out.
