The loudness is just a by-product of a high flow exhaust. Look at the exhaust on these types of cars then look at the ones on your car, especially a honda civic. The exhaust is restricted to make it quieter and to meet efficiency needs,.

These supra's are running turbos, and with a turbo you do not want back pressure at all. This is why they use 3" turbo backs..it's just straight exhaust flow.
