The guys who filmed all of this really did cash in on the death of a young woman. Addiction is not novel, nor is it something to be celebrated. Shame on them.
Warhol also never promised he would pay her for her movies, as her movies with him didn't make very much money while she was alive. Keep in mind - she was an UNDERGROUND movie star. No underground arthouse actress in 1965 was banking millions. Warhol actually almost went in debt from his movie making, which is why he had to start silk screening again and put Paul Morrissey behind the camera. The Jean Stein bio is a good resource for Edie, but has quite a bit of misinformation on Warhol.

Warhol also never promised he would pay her for her movies, as her movies with him didn't make very much money while she was alive. Keep in mind - she was an UNDERGROUND movie star. No underground arthouse actress in 1965 was banking millions. Warhol actually almost went in debt from his movie making, which is why he had to start silk screening again and put Paul Morrissey behind the camera. The Jean Stein bio is a good resource for Edie, but has quite a bit of misinformation on Warhol.

The comments are from the movie "Ciao! Manhattan," and I believe most of the footage too. It's worth seeing if you can get a copy, but it's sad too.
