Transformer is home made using the core from a 10KVA transformer out of a large UPS. A 100 turn primary and 10,000 turn secondary were wound by a transformer company. A sheet metal shop made the tank and I assembled it in oil. Current is limited by 10, 400W high pressure sodium lamp ballasts in parallel. So open circuit it is approx 24KV and short circuit approx 0.25A. Runs off the wall with 2, 13A plugs in parallel. A contactor turns it on and off from a push button switch.
I want to build one so bad....but with my limited knowledge in electricity, i'm afraid i might kill myself

Mad science pleasure, whatever, I want that transformer! It's nice to see something that scale instead of the usual MOT stuff.

It's funny how you just have this gigantic transformer in your room instead of a garage or outside.
How/where did you get it?

Excellent arc, and I love the sound of it. Is it
50 Hz direct from the mains?
