  • The teacher Simon Lau seems like a good guy, and in very good shape.....

  • At 1:12 watch how Simon Lau swaggers into his coon as if he thinks he's Bruce Lee with the bofoon hair & the leather jacket!

  • @beavercontrol Without Bruce's skill and grace and abilities, just a monkey performing tricks.

  • @beavercontrol I don't really see your point. Just because he's wearing nice clothes doesn't mean he's less genuine about his training in wing chun than any other.

  • @beavercontrol

Yes, and he is even more arrogant now than he was then...

  • "There is no doubt that Wing Chun is focused on training fighters."

WTF. All martial arts are meant to train fighters. The commentary sucks.

  • @Skillking22 he just meant its more obvious, back when this aired a lot of people still saw kung fu as a sort of dance. Wing Chun tends to be more direct even in appearance.

  • Fantastic

  • at 0:25 did the old man just make the whooshy sound with his fist

  • I would love to see him do first form today

  • 1:58 Performing Chi-Sau & 6:02 Double Punching - A young James Sinclair.

  • if i decided to learn wing chun i would learn it from living legend him self Ip Man

  • @vader19907 ip man is dead and his only son ip chun is over 85 years old and has not named a successor to his school....

  • For the avoidance of doubt - I meant Simon Lau is a bullshitter, not any other masters featured in the BBC TV programme.

  • I really like the wing chun master, he is cool.

  • @itsabomberscope

that wing chun master is a bigheaded bullshitter. He talks but can't walk - he was challenged by lots of people after this programme in 1980s. He went hiding, like a coward but basked in the glory of his former students' own achievements.

  • I love the accent of the master at 3:00, it's so legitimate Asian martial arts accent. Don't know what that meant, but I find that extremely cool.

  • CHHAAIIINNN PUNCH!

  • what a bunch of shit!

  • i love wing chun bruce lees first ,martial arts style

  • @china0exe, I completely agree!

  • snake, crane and mantis makes wing chun southern kung fu rocks

  • wing chun looks cool, but no head movement=knockout

  • Amen to that Brian.

  • in 02; 19 that gyu i think its james sinclair

  • @bethykungfu69 Sure! But he can KILL you with his bare hands

  • Was that scamuel croc in the beginning?

  • If you are really interested in Wing Chun, I'd have a look at William Cheung. =)

  • That Wing Chun master really is something! His punches are lightning fast and strong like an tigers bite. Wing Chun is one of my favourite styles, because it focus on self defense and not sport or fitness. My (just like so many else), goal with learning martial art was self defense, learning how to defend my self.

  • Its heartening to see people of all races gather for good activities where evry1 are brothers and there is no hating

  • Gary Lam is better than Simon Lau

  • 6:27 is the most important part, imo

  • actually this sound is real, the uniform snaps against the arm and itself to make this sound when done fast and correctly, I've seen many times with people using karate gis. it's no more fake than the sound of a whip cracking, it's just hard to do in the beginning

  • Mr Lau is wearing what is known as a "tie mic" for this recording, and though I know that the suit 'cracks' when the technique is performed properly most of what you hear here is picked up by the mic clipped to his suit lapel, you can hear the noise as he sets the punch up.

  • 00:04 "The snake is lively and active"

and if it isn't - try VIAGRA!

  • not forgetting 'and kickin'

  • 2:14, the white guy is master James Sinclair. Creator and head instructor of the UK WIng Chun Association.

  • 7:10 ....Jesus fucking christ, you could've sworn there were sound effects added to his punches, rofl.

  • ahahaha xD absolutly right

  • i think he got a mic attached since you can even hear quite loudly when he hits his chest. plus with his long loose sleeves = action movie sound lol

  • I personally think Simon Lau was guffing at the same time as he was punching to obtain those sound effects.

Any unbelivers who doubt his Masterly control of his Arse-Fu - remember "sifu" Simon Lau has been talking out of his arse for over 35 years.

  • there were no sound effects, i can do this, it's real.

  • Yeah it's picking up the sound from the mic stupid.

  • I think you need to pay more attention when you're reading, stupid.

  • STFU wanker.

  • I see that your brain already turn on auto-pilot, can't think of anything good to say. Oh well.

  • 5 *****

    gagi

  • engraçado?!

    rs

  • Last time i saw this video it was only 30,000 views Its amazing the rich culture in Asia

  • Notice the very young James Sinclair, totally awesome!

  • the guy at the end is like bruce lee even the way he talks

  • Did anyone else here the leopard paw strike @ 26?!!!! Imagine the force behind such a blow!

  • haha

  • i caught that too

  • they are not interesting to hear other"s storys ,real story search for it .if u areinterested

  • five stars

  • i have allways wanted to learn that style wing chun love kung fu

  • You should then. It's excellent

  • ALAMID MARTIAL ART is a modern scientific way of self-defense. It was developed years before, but was seldom seen on screen and in actual demonstration for it was continuously practiced with prudence and secrecy. Now it is open to the world of martial skill, with its distinct style in approaching an assailant, it uses electrifying twitching strikes which are not seen in other martial arts.

  • now i no what art to do

  • u can tell all the white boys in the studio are sick of gettin pick on...so they wanna learn wing chun hahaha

  • Those students in u.k. who were practicing wingchun following that master are very wise.

They believed in wingchun even in the early 80's , when i am sure no one knew what it was back then, even today there are still skeptics saying wingchun is ineffective, only for women.

  • most people who try martial arts or anything to win a street fight are donks trying to be act like there a master when really there a bunch of pricks who think they are the shit then get beaten the shit out of come across a guy who knows what hes doing and you can bet you wont be walking away.

  • haha some of us can actually fight. Not all of us are trained to fight like sissies... martial art is very watered down according to old standards but ufc and mma is bringing it back to the basics. What works and what's effective. It works.

  • I've witness a friend who learned martial arts for two weeks and got his revenge on a bully who was physically stronger. He got outboxed and out wrestled. I do agree with you that there are a lot of martial artists who became assholes after ther training, but those generally are not great fighters and therefore get their ass kick in a streetfight. Great martial artists learned to become humble once they become good. You won't know that they know martial arts untill it's too late.

  • Well, if you have the will and compassion to work hard and become a master of martial arts, then you will have too much compassion to go around causing trouble and hurting others. Therefore, the ones who go about making trouble are generally the weaker ones

  • The people in the ufc look so inexperienced when they fight, you rarely see a good fight on that show.

  • that they don't use 6 different stances and 5 hand forms doesnt mean they don't know what they are doing

  • um yes it does lol thats why ufc fighters only fight...ufc fighters. but you probably having been a fan of the ufc and had your favorite wrestlers growning up?? what a a poser you must be.

  • Everybody Wang Chung Tonight!

  • hits comes from or heart and souls! but all other are depend from our training! our hit have to be like "mix" of heart soul and body!

  • you mean using the chi and physical together to make the best punch

  • Who said wing chun punches comes form the shoulders? It comes from the entire body. Feet, waist, shoulders, arms and wrist.

Wing chun can be a very powerful art if you train well.

  • @ruan13o Like all arts

  • @ruan13o Lots of people learn wrong, like nature,we all are born soft, when we get older, our bodies can learn hard and fast.Latter on,we get soft again.IMHO,to many people train this system soft without even knowing anything hard in a fighting way, they degrade the system seeing and training only one side of WC/VT/WT

  • I think that wing chun man is awesome.

  • Because its not a powerful art....its B.S. If ANYONE can show me where kung fu has won a street fight PLEASE show me. A real punch starts from the foot pushing on the ground not from the shoulder.

  • It's effective if you sucker punch someone to the throat...other than that it's Gracie JJ all the way baby.

  • in kung fu you dont sucker punch ppl, punch in the throat is a death move that is something you shouldnt use in a fight. gracie bjj is good but not great, it only usefull in 1 on 1 fight other then that you must rely on other fighting style when your out number. grappling is very limited, but if your a good striker and fast you can beat a good grappler. speed is everything in a fight.

  • Wing Chun is more than just blocking, if you are looking to just do simple task like blocking then punching then kicking you should not practice wing chung. But if you want to feel the opponents aggression and react to it without the need of blocking full force then wing chung is the answer. I've been practicing Wing Chung for 1 year and i have improve mi fighting reflexes and perception. May be you need to try a simpler art.

  • good..come to serbia!!!

  • I learned a small amount of wing chun.I thought its blocks were the worts thing ever. They dont work.If youre learing wing chun learn something else to teach you how to block

  • What? I dunno man. What I learned of Wing Chun has greatly increased my parrying ability. For the record you should know that there are no "blocks" in Wing Chun. A traditional block denotes absorbtion of force. In wing chun there are parries which means to deflect the attack to another line. Maybe try a better teacher?

  • have i said something different from this?

  • ...No?I think you thought my comment to shaolintemplemonk was directed towards you.

  • whoever taught you taught you wrong bong sau tan sau, pak sau are the basics you should have learned I have used these against some of the biggest strongest men and the fastest

  • blocks are not blocks in real wing chun.. so they don t work.. they work if u know there isnt blocking in fight.:)

  • @sihingalkan Uh...huh?

  • The only thing I don't like about WC is how long it takes to develop a very rudimentary form of fajing. Because they have to shift the feet in same direction as punch in different direction, when you could do it from almost any balanced rooted position.

  • Actually WC is one of the fastest martial art styles to learn, that is why it was developed.

  • even i first watched this 20 years ago. seemed to me bad wing chun.. now i can say it s definitely bad. for fight..

  • Yes, I was also surprised by the lack of polish to his form and chi sau. Then again, it was when he first started.

  • well master James Sinclair and Master Wai Po Tang are in this video and are true masters of wing chun! so theres two masters who have come from this class! so Master Simon Lau must have done something write to have produced these two!!!!!!!!!

  • Master Steve Lee Swift is in the Beginning fighting Simon Lau... that's three.

  • Agree James Sinclair and Master Wai Po Tang are good...

...but Simon Lau also taught Sid & Andrew Sofos.

  • yes its a southern form.

  • IS WING CHUN KUNG FU

  • it's obviously not wing chun!!

  • what style of gung fu?

  • Another con man! =(

  • You are?

  • if you are referring to either sifu mentioned i say HA!.

  • 很高兴看到这个录像,咏春早期的发展。

  • this is at least 20 year old vid..who knows how many sifus are now from this class..

  • Excellent documentary

  • Wooow!Sifu James Sinclair is on this video, from 2:10!He was so young and skinny!
