Installing one HDD directly on top of an existing one is generally a bad idea and should not be done unless you have no other slots left.
You want to have decent air flow between the drives so as to aid in the cooling of the drives themselves, and installing one HDD directly above another one leaves very little air space.
In the above case, the gentleman clearly has other open slots that he could have used, and even if it took the extra work to temporarily remove a card, it IS worth it.
hi I formatted the new drive and it seemed to work well but here and there it won't show up in my computer but if I restart the computer it will show up again. I need help with trying to figure out why it works fine then disappears on other times
hi western digital I followed your steps but when I go to the computer manager its says the drive is unallocated so I can't format it. The new hard drive is Western Digital 1.5TB model : WD15EARS-00J2GB0 .. Can you please help? is there a driver or something I need?
thanks
