I'm a drummer into DCI and I like show drumming as well.No one can tell me that these kids are not having a blast and experiencing something they'll never forget;life lessons.Drumming(or any other art form) is not only about "tight." DCI people need to open their minds to see the beauty in all sorts rather than some ego driven rant how they "know drumming."That to me is bullshit.Screw the DCI elitist attitude and good for these kids for participating.

@lemonite1 I don't think anyone can legitimately claim that this type of drumming is BAD FOR THE PARTICIPANTS. I definitely have a DCI drumming background and I honestly think that show style bands are definitely focused in the showmanship part of performance. DCI Drumlines are more concerned with cleanliness and interpretation. Two completely different styles that are focused and separate in nature. Which one is better? Who cares. I just want to hear clean beats.

@Grice00 well it depends on where yuu are like here in north carolina thats all drumlines use is rudiments....have yuu heard of the term hybrid drumline....well thats what we are here....as for the single tom its called a tenor and it helps with showstyle cadences and if tuned correctly gives a warm sound between the snares and quints or tenors whichever term yuu prefer

@Grice00 go ahead and stay with your dci. they use single toms because they provide a different tone and mix to the line. they have a different sound. if you talking about technique, then its in their dofferent styl. show style is made to express what they love to do, and they have fun doing it, and it was also created to intertain the crowd, which they excede at doing. corps performs for judges. show incorprates rudiments AND visuales. lets see your dci incorporate the two succesfully
