It's a hunter orange hat, and it's a legal requirement while hunting during open firearms seasons in most states. In my state we also have to wear at least 400 square inches of orange in the form of a vest. Even if you are bowhunting. It's f-ing stupid, but maybe it has saved somebody from an accidental shooting.
