yeah the whole point of these was beacuse they were making the antidote to the chimeran virus and with so low resources time and information of the virus they had no choice but to use human experiments evryone was injected with different "possible cures" but few survived then they were sent to combat and if they were reports of soldiers that were infected but managed to be still on their feet instead of the comma effect they were taken like hale and form the elite group the "sentinels"

He always was a violent person. Apperently Oster beat someone to near death with the butt of his rifle, the victim suffered permanent damage to the spine and needed a few operations, but I'm sure some of u guys have already read about that.
