Reebok did this with childish gambino. If someone could look up that vid if you haven't already, and please tell me what sone gambino is talking about where he mentions an "old synth". Itd be much appreciated.
@AntonSlizzardhands exactly how illmatic became a classic when it dropped. i guess your probably young dude, but ask anybody who was around in 1992-1994, they'll tell you straight Illmatic was a classic when they had it on bootleg. same with paid in full.
@AntonSlizzardhands your right, i was just answering your question on how something can become classic six years later. Illmatic became a classic the day it dropped.
Be is one of the greatest hiphop albums of all time, and the Be (intro) is possibly the greatest hiphop songs I've ever heard. Kanye + Common = greatness
that album was a fucking classic, underrated as shit.. kanye's old beats, common's original style.. cmon man.. common is underrated in general anyway.
@larry89 Common has 3 undisputed classics; Resurrection, One Day It'll All Make Sense, Like Water For Chocolate and in my opinion he has one modern classic; Be.
@MidlandKruiskade wrong...my fav producer is nujabes, but kanye west can easily keep up with the rest. he might be superficial and all..but dont argue about his skills in producing.. go check out Forever Begins (one of the best hip hop beats ever in history and best dilla tribute followed by can't stop of the roots), Be, the corner, the people, get by, heart of the city, two words, sunshine.. and the list goes on...how he handles samples, how he combines samples from different records, just superb
@elcattiv0 You think Kanye West can keep up with RZA? He has made so many fucking classics and many of these albums are considered the best hiphop albums of all time and not because of the lyrics, but because of his production: 36 Chambers, OBFCL, Liquid Swords (very lyrical though), Tical, Ironman, Return to the 36 Chambers, Wu-Tang Forever. Ok now we have Premier all the classics with Gang Starr, Group Home, MOP, Crooklyn Dodgers, Nas and so many. Pete Rock with CL Smooth, Dilla >>>> Kanye
@elcattiv0 The College Dropout and the album Be by Common are 2 of my favorite albums produced by Ye, but he is no way near Dilla's level or RZA's, Pete Rock's, Premier. Also Dilla did just 1 beat on Be and it was the best beat (Love is... the way he flipped the sample, unbelievable you could feel the soul). Kanye never produced as many classics as them, he would even say so himself.
@Steven8503 and they were the best beats on there. Its Your World was crazy, i still to this day don't know how jay dee chopped up the sample. quincy jones in his own mind.
@elcattiv0 lol combining samples has been happening for over 20 years. you had people like large professor, diamond d, lord finnesse, pete and premo who have literally combined over 5 samples for one track. Nujabes was dope, god rest his soul, but he was never on Jay Dee's, Premiere, Q-Tip, PR and Extra P's level. Kanye's beats were never the same since his mother died. and thats a fact. lyrically he has grown though.

Does anybody know the background music that is playing around :30 to 1:30? Is that something Reebok put out on their own? It's really nice.

@TheSinghFIRE Illmatic and Be are not on the same level, and I'm from Chicago saying this without hesitation.
