  • Nothing like the sound of a big Hemi wound up....too bad the music ruined it....

  • sounds beautiful hard to believe those got to look the way they do in the movie joe dirt :/

  • Like to see it run AGAIn(full run) and PLEASE Kill the crap music and let the Exhaust notes speak!!! Cool car!

  • Nice car, drop the MTV crap, and show how fast it went already!

  • love the bird, hate the gay tunes.

  • Sometime around 1982 I found a Super Bird in a hot rod/muscle car used car lot on Whittier Bvld. in Whittier, CA. for about $4,200. I didn't buy it because it didn't have a 440 or a hemi. I thought it was crap because it had like a 383 or something....

I now curse they day I was born because I was such a moron for not buying it. Stupid stupid stupid!!!!

  • how fast?

  • @maxkuznetsov123456 200+ MPH

  • damn that sounded like my dads truck if it was a little louder

  • Such an awesome car I wish we had more of these Birds these days

  • I bet it went almost a hundred miles an hour!

  • I wonder how much faster it'd go without the wing, just looks like drag to me. Although maybe it provides some downforce enough to make the skinny tires bite better. Healthy sounding brute I'll say that.

  • @505197 downforce n the vertical pieces act as high speed rutters 2 help keep her staight

  • Thanks Your A Racer I take it . Going to bonneville and Racing is allot harder that it looks. it Is a true proving ground. This Generation of street Racers should prove themselves and go up there and try it the hard way, Like My Dad did in the 50's.

At Speed week and Try for an Official SCTA record Run. Let the Salt Show the Men From The Boys.....

  • Good to see another bird on the salt! Jim Frederick my grandfather held 5 records on the salt with the FLYROD 707! He passed last year at age 98 and run the bird until age 80! Mopars Rock!

  • 60 people are chevy fans.

  • @prosteelheader ...All 60s-70s muscle cars were good doesn't matter GM or chrysler.

  • @xCh34pShOtx AMC?

  • @TheIkkap javelin?...

  • @xCh34pShOtx Ever work on one? Like all the other AMC cars they were a mismash of all the other car companies parts. I was never a fan but I like an old Javelin these days since I prefer most anything over the front wheel drive chip cars. I will always be partial to Cudas though.

  • @TheIkkap no but my friend has one and it's sweet :D

  • i really wish that nascar wouldn't have shut these cars down, God only know what ford and chevy would have come out with next!

  • The daytona's took 1st, 2nd,3rd, and forth place the first race they went out, and ford started bitchin. Therefore it got banned(By the way the wing made drafting nearly impossible)

  • another WASTED SUPERBIRD FUCKING RETARDS

  • Great to see another bird out there getting slapped up. Thanks! Its amazing how many stock birds do 200mph!? Me thinks the sheeps reads to much, wanna buy some ocean front swamp land?

  • 59 drives a Prius.

  • JOE DIRT!!

  • this car is why they made the daytona (: Richard Petty wouldent come back to dodge unless they gave him a wing, and thats where the daytona with the big ass wing came from

  • @reydawgs08 Uhm Daytona wasn't copied from Superbird....

  • @reydawgs08 The Daytona came out in 69, and hit 205mph, with a 4spd and a single 4 barrel carb atop a hemi race motor, the first nascar car to break 200mph, without fuel injection or a 6spd double clutch sequential tranny. The car has a .28 Drag coefficient, despite bieng 222" long and weighing close to 4200 lbs, and that drag effecient is better than the ferrari F430. The superbird came out in 1970, with worse aerodynamics than the Daytona, becuase petty whined to plymouth for one. Schools out.

  • 160 is the fastest any stock Superbird has gone according to the information I have. They would do 200 in NASCAR form. This thing should do well over 200.

  • @michaelwolfe1969 Correctamundo. Stock they did 190Mph, but it took a lot to get those last 10 Mph out of it, and the mods done on this car just make it a lot safer, and a lot easier.

  • The Superbird is awesome, but I like it's cousin the Charger Daytona, a lot better

  • @michaelwolfe1969 thank you for not answering my question i was asking about the top speed of this particular car

  • gay vid

  • @MrCap0ne YOU BE TROLLI'N

  • @MrCap0ne how??

  • Love the car ,but hate the music,it ruined the experience

  • what did the car top out at??

  • Its fake because it doesent have a vinal top

  • @alexcastilloz Neither did any NASCAR car - were they all fakes too?

  • go pedal to the metal . if it blows up so be it . speed is the name of the game!

  • Nothing cooler than a piston engine vehicle going balls out at bonneville

  • how is it

  • ahaha i so want one of those cars but ill probably never own one... not enless i find roadrunner and add on replacement parts :/

  • Wat are you a ricer or a bow-tie-boy? You obviously do not know anything about cars so you probably one or the other.

  • when it came out it was one of the fastest cars you could buy stock in the world. its fucking fast

  • You got that right

  • well, i grew up in East Detroit Mi, on 10 mile road, and i rode my bike by these sweet cars when was a kid( 9 or 10 ), i thought these cars were the ugliest cars i'd ever seen..and if you think these cars are SHIT than you are too..i do believe it was called Creative Design.. if i'm wrong please tell me..was on 10 mi just east of Gratiot on the south side..

  • I want more motor sound it's the real music!!!!!!!

  • I had a charger stock that did 170mph. I wonder what that bird would do?

  • 220-230mph

  • @goldmakers Are you sure...stock...sorry man the speedometer was waaaaaaaaaayyy off. And I'm Moflop guy from way back. Stock??

  • @middsteve Holly 750 double pumper was the only addition, and compared to a Therm, I don't think it had much of difference in delivery. 383 magnum with a wide range three speed. It wasn't off I assure you. Back in the day I had many fast cars but Ill tell ya that was some top end car. Don't know what the rear end was?

  • ugh get rid of the air intake and it will be perfect

  • love the ridiculous spoilers

  • by any chance do you know why they are that big? so that you can open the trunk!

  • ha lol

  • that was so tall so the trunk could open all the way

  • When I was 22, I drove a new one of these around my suburban neighborhood in 1970-- owned by a friend of my family. Wow! Never experienced anything like it before or since.

  • man these car and that for torino all made nascar put limits on their cars

  • those things did go 200mph tho...

  • is that now a FIAT ? I hope not

  • im pretty sure when fiat buys chrysler they'll still be 100% american designed

  • american designed, china parts.. just like today

  • MOPAR KICKS agh you know ASS!!!!!!!!!!

  • the superbird was so fast that nascar kicked it out

ps. i would kill to have this car

  • It was FAST in the straight a way but,..bad it the curves..

  • @musclecarcrazy49 This car was the reason NASCAR made standard stock cars...these things were flying off the track at over 220 mph! Bad Ass.....I want Richard Petties!

  • @Captain25011 BTW the same cars you saw on the race track were the same cars they sold off the lot....just another reason why there are so many exhibition of speed laws and engine spec certifications etc....in other words, bringing wimpy Jap cars into U.S.

  • @musclecarcrazy49 i knew it!!! i forgot all about that...lol it must make other car makers feel like crap that when this car owned all, so they banned instead of stepping up to the competition

  • @musclecarcrazy49 Yeah. That's when ford was coming out with the boss 429. I think people started getting scared of big motors. Thats when nascar started equalizing things and now every car has to be the same.

  • @fasttruck93l No ford came out with the 429 and chrysler dropped the news of thier new twin cam 426 hemi and Bill france said there is no way in hell either of those are gonna run our tracks! So was the death of the Hemi in nascar y'all

  • @musclecarcrazy49 same with the daytona

  • @musclecarcrazy49 then what is with it being so slooooow in Gran Turismo 5..? or is that just a game glitch?and no, i wasn't racing any highly modded cars or an F-1 against it...

  • @machinegunboy98 because Gran Turismo is just a video game

  • Ok.....Its like this: In order to go the 200 mph, you have to change the rear-end gears So when you take off in first itis like taking off in 3rd. So if you have to shift out of 1st like at 30 mph, now you shift at like 80. Go build a car and drive it. Then yap about your opinions!

  • @oldfart442 not true when you spin the engine up to 8k before shifting.

  • @oldfart442 The rear engine on the stock 383 was 3.55, the 440-6 and the 426 had 3.54. Richard Pettys car had 4.19s. ( you dont need 4.6 or 5.1, just makes it easier. ) I have driven a car to 190Mph. ( My Mustang GT only did 181Mph, and I built it from scratch )

  • huh! What happens when you floor YOUR car on dirt or sand? I know mine likes to dig holes where the tires are begging for traction and not getting any. Pretty sure he did show his motor when he was cruising along at oh.. you know.. like 180-200 mph? So i think the only one who is a "pussy" is you. soo STFU.

  • it's not a drag race and that's not sticky pavement hes runnin on,you obviously don't know shit about land speed racing.

  • CORYWEP that is NOT a Cuda it's a superbird. a built up version of the roadrunner and it was built for nascar. a superbird was also the first car to EVER reach 200mph

  • wasn't the daytona the first to hit 200. not that there really is a difference

  • yeah it was buddy baker in a 69 hemi daytona

  • if u dont like this ur not AMERICAN!!!!!!!

  • nice colour...

  • If people could buy the stuff they race and drive it to work everyday like in 1970 the world would be a much better place. The superbird was featured in the movie joe dirt and is my dream car

  • ITS A CUDA

  • The class record is 228, I believe in a larger engine class this car went 237

  • What the heck !! Thats it? Was expecting to see it run...

  • Fiat = Mopar power?! Omigod what has happened!

  • and how fast??

  • It was built to win at NASCAR which it did so well it was outlawed and NASCAR has sucked ever since. It was too fast!

  • I wish that the cars today resembled what you buy - do you see a Camry, Impala, or Taurus with a v* and rear-wheel drive? I sure don't - would be nice to see Impalas set up like the past. NASCAR needs to get back to the roots - let the people who race come up with their own products, and if they win, so be it! I agree the original 426 Hemi was very superior - if it was allowed to continue racing then Ford and GM would have to come up with their own contingencies (which Ford did - the 427 SOHC).

  • this car was built for one reason and one reason only...to bring richard petty back to plymouth

  • my assumption is that the superbird was really to be showcased in the nascar circuit hence the wing that was developed but it had to be a production car in order to be qualified. Since they knew the wing would work on the circuits high speeds it was used on production cars so they could say that it was a "stock" car! Before Nascar became what it is today.. those races actually sold the cars that were showcased

  • undrivable at 150mph?

so the wing they developed in 1970 is as aerodynamically efficient as it can physically be at top speed, no wonder this cost-is-no-object salt-flat car is running it.

no more aerodynamic advantage to gain because that wing is as advanced as it gets.

i say it was purpose built to a point, and they choose historic looks and appeal rather than new technology for all aspects of aerodynamics.

  • so what speed did it reach?

  • wow i'd hate to meet that at a red light haha awesome car its a beast!

  • This one is geared pretty high, you could beat it on the street from light to light.

  • this was a beautiful [and way fast!] car when new and very innovative. nearly forty years later the idea of one setting speed records or being someone's idea of a good platform for record attmpts is quaint or even cute but not to be taken seriously. and the majority of those 1920 cars? 'Mostly Old Parts And Rust'

  • with all due respect, you're all wrong. Chrysler made 1921 SuperBirds, all in Jan/70 at Lynch road assy. plant. many were "bodies in white" that went to NASCAR teams. 135 were 426 Hemi cars. All offered colors were known as hi-impact colors except 1 which was an odd rootbeer color and that car still exists. and the wing will NOT come off. it is bolted directly to a series of braces in the trunk, and the braces in turn bolted to trunk floor. i know, i've had my SuperBird since 10/74.

  • could be the ugliest car ive ever seen........fast as hell, but wow ugly. seems like that wing would have come off for top speed runs.....

  • The wing won't come off! It is bolted to the car.

  • dont most bolts come off? lol

  • Not likely when they are torqued down to 150 ft-lbs or whatever the number is.

  • your going to seriously argue that this spoiler CAN NOT be removed from this vehicle..... seems dumb, of course they can remove it.

  • I didn't say it can't be removed. I am saying that when properly fastened they won't "come off" at high speeds.

  • ......I was thinking along the lines of aerodynamic drag lowering the top speed, not that the wing would come off at top speed.

  • @eeeen321 on a ford they do

  • Yeahhhhh! Mopar Rules!

  • i run a 2:41 gear in my trans am and it has a 40 over 400 with 5 speed run way up their to!

  • I had a similar rear end ratio in my 71 firebird w/455SD engine and 4 spd tranny.

Could run 45+ mph in first gear. It had a bad shake in the front end at 140 mph, so I did't run it last enough to stretch 4th out.

  • I think hes lying if you think he does w/o seeing it

  • sorry guys, i understand what you are saying now, and your right. maybe ill sell my wrx buy a charger and paint a confederate flag on the roof.

  • Why sell the wrx,I have an 04 sti and a 68 prostreet hemi charger. They are fun for different reasons.

  • why does everyone assume i drive a ricer?

a wrx with 280whp i guess could be considered a ricer, if your a fucking dumbass.

or are you talking about my 89 blazer when you say ricer?

im wating for u to make fun of me for driving a japanese car, so lets hear it.

  • haha even worse you drive a chevy!!! for all the way..hahaha!

  • all 80's domestics suck equally. yes, it is a shitbox bushbuggy.

  • noone cares what you think go look at your little rice burners

  • RICE BURNERS AHHH 280 hp = fail. Superbird= waaayy better than damn jap crap

  • oops, the motor size is B so it is probably a 426 Hemi.

  • This is a stroked Hemi, its over 500 cid. Going over 230mph for an unblown car is really good. This car is also pretty heavy and at this altitude it runs very good.

  • BandCshow, yeah, isnt the salt flats where you had sex with your Mommy?

  • please dont tell me that was an original 'bird.....

  • at the salt flats you don't start fast you ease it fast its not a drag race that car can go over 200 miles an hour

  • no they push there cars from the get go they dont go as fast because there cars are geard way higher than a normal car

  • What he (GerryWK) said, FOOL!

GO poke a hot soldering iron thru your eye

  • Moparpussy, I know you aint talking to me.

  • hey fag were you live cause im goon kick your ass

  • your the biggest dumb ass i think i have ever seen do your know what the salt flats are??? that car can go over 200 miles an our you cock sucker!!! its not a damn drag rice you cockass read and learn something before you go off running that dumb ass mouth

  • Anytime you wanna give it a go Georgenfaggot, let me know. :)

  • arguing on youtube is kinda like the special olympics. win or loose you are both retards!

  • wow ur cute get that sain frome anywere

  • really, i thought a gas motor was basically an air compressor. I didnt know it could eat metal and aluminum and rubber. i guess hemi is worth more than just a badge. . . not

  • it is not a factor motor unless its stroked, however it is possible to put hemi heads on a rb block they started making conversion kits to do this in the early 90's seen an example at mopar nationals in 91

  • wow a hemi. my honda motor is also considered a hemi. big deal

  • @RoganSF Yes true I use a Honda engine to start my Mopar engine.....all 14hp that the Honda can put out ( on nitrous)

  • @middsteve Bottles are for babies

  • @HellBound8492 I don't know what you mean.

  • Chrysler NEVER made a 440 Hemi !!!!!!!!! the early 313 and 392 are the orginial Hemi's. But They did make the 440+6 which is based of the 440 with the 3 carbs. Unlike the 426 with the two 4 barrels. The true elephant

  • no matter how many names you give em..the only 440 thats not a hemi of origin is the 440 wedge aka Y block..even the 6pack was a hemi..only thing that made it different..was the induction..essentially still a hemi regardless..

  • dallas ur a fucktard and ur worng yes hemi did make a 400 ci motor stfu

  • he screwed up the bigging

  • ugly....wow it wasen't built for today's looks built for power and speed

  • it was built in 1970 and still is a legend

  • I believe the Superbird still hold the land record for the fastest american production car, Nascar outlawed the bird and daytona in the races in 1971

  • how fast did it go?

cuz the SSC ultimate aero goes 257 and thats american

  • How can you say it looks bad? It looks brilliant.

  • eso es un auto

  • dummies, make some car better and talk shit

  • How much is that custom Ram with the 4 full doors?

  • thats car is one of fastest cars ever made. to this day its still one of the few production (affordable) cars able to hit 200 mph. Its looks (the wing, bumper, ect.) are what enables it to go so fast.

  • by the way people this car almost reached 240mph in the new video

  • Which is one of the reasons why it was outlawed in 1971 from NASCAR. As well as the Hemi engine around that time. Ford and GM just couldn't compete.

  • check out there new video it shows it in action and posts speeds.

  • whateva ur probably just a spic wog anyway

  • Dang, is that a hemi?

  • Hey man, can you read title of video?

  • Yes

  • i like the superbird for its originality...no other car came up with a kit quite as far out as it...the 440 is just a chrysler hemi..nice sound and torque but not enough in the high end...the best chrylser v8 was the 340 it had perfect ratio's and supercharged...it would have kicked the shit outta any 440

  • You have no clue about what you are even talking about with the motor or the car. Go do some real research. The 440 is a wedge head NOT a hemi you fool. And the car is not a kit, some NASA guy's helped Chrysler design the car. Now go back and finish high school.

  • 440 WEDGEHEAD dumbass.the Hemi at the time was a 426

  • The 413 was a wedge, 440 also? Wasnt there a 426 wedge as well?

    Amazing car, love the look
