Even though it can take 7 seconds to complete a maximal attempt you are still applying a great deal of explosive force. Thats why powerlifters train both speed and maximal weights.

In deadlift with heavy weights small things such as turning your head slightly even in a locked out position may fuck you up but the descent is not supposed to be done with negative contraction, my 5 cents.
i'm a little scared of the thought of attempting a stretch reflex with 800+lbs, but there may be some strength building value in the eccentric portion of the rep as a training exercise. or it may cause too much damage. in any case, that is some seriously strong lifting right there. well done.
Because in a powerlifting meet you pull a max single from a dead stop, there is no down movement so you don't benefit from the stretch reflex of lowering the weight. By not providing any resistance on the way down I am attempting to simulate competition conditions and eliminate the stretch reflex as much as possible.
For being a body builder and not lifting for strength. Ronnie does a badass job with all of his lifts. Seen videos of 495 x 5 bench, 800 x 2 squat and deadlift.

Our form is very similar. People always wank on to me about how I could get a lot better leverage by sitting back far into a pull, but I have such a short torso. I can't break nothing off the floor if I Deadlift "right".

High rep dumbbell rows without straps. I do 99% of my training without straps. Only on really heavy shrugs (800lbs+) and a few other things do I use straps.

i'm a little scared of the thought of attempting a stretch reflex with 800+lbs, but there may be some strength building value in the eccentric portion of the rep as a training exercise. or it may cause too much damage. in any case, that is some seriously strong lifting right there. well done.

Why do you drop the weight like that after every rep? Why dont you lower it in a controlled fashion?

Because in a powerlifting meet you pull a max single from a dead stop, there is no down movement so you don't benefit from the stretch reflex of lowering the weight. By not providing any resistance on the way down I am attempting to simulate competition conditions and eliminate the stretch reflex as much as possible.

@kroc001 Kroc isn't into bodybuilding, therefore the negative movement isn't necessary in this case since he is into powerlifting. I think? :)

For being a body builder and not lifting for strength. Ronnie does a badass job with all of his lifts. Seen videos of 495 x 5 bench, 800 x 2 squat and deadlift.

Sweet pulling Kroc.
Our form is very similar. People always wank on to me about how I could get a lot better leverage by sitting back far into a pull, but I have such a short torso. I can't break nothing off the floor if I Deadlift "right".

good job man. i hope you're all natural because if you are then that shows there is hope to get that big without the roids. so far i can deadlift only 275 for 3 reps. im still building up. keep up the good work and might i say, you got a strong grip there.

High rep dumbbell rows without straps. I do 99% of my training without straps. Only on really heavy shrugs (800lbs+) and a few other things do I use straps.
