I was on this medication for about 2-2 1/2 years and it worked great! It made me feel soo much better, however, after a certain amount of time the medicine stopped working and I had to be switched to something else. Although I'm on a generic medication now, it still works, but I feel as though the Nexium worked better and I had less stomach upsets with that than I do now with the medication I'm on. And although it states the side effects, I never really had them at all.
