The song wasn't all that bad - the video, however, reminds me of those stupid 80's montages. Where the f**k is Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell lol?
Maybe if the infrastructure engineers had put the pedestrian-crossing lanes 20 metres AWAY from the f***(ing intersection, we wouldn't need a song/video/dance?
@157pontiac American? That's funny. This is for the Region of Waterloo, Ontario...this is in Canada. The pointing was meant as a marketing tool to teach people about the use of roundabouts. It may not be the most amazing thing, but everyone has heard it in our community and whether you like it or not, the tune is catchy or annoying enough (however you wish to look at it) to stick in peoples head.
I just love the song and the video shows normal people teaching how to safely cross a roundabout. This is a great learning video that could save lives so
What I don't get is why it's called The Roundabout Dance. Nobody is dancing in the video, and the song isn't particularly danceable. People are just pointing. A better title would be The Roundabout Point.
Do the roundabout dance Point your finger to say I'm crossin here, I'm walkin this way In the roundabout dance Watch the traffic flow Cause you decide, when to step out and go In the roundabout dance (2x) Keep watching those drivers Are they watching to? When they slow or stop There'll be time for you In the roundabout dance (2x)
This campaign is absolutely necessary and Kudos to the folks at KW for the pro-active approach. I hope that what you suggest IS NEXT. I can think of people that might need a smart and catchy campaign to get on a bus.....IE Visually impaired. The roundabout when used appropriately is an extremely "green" way to process traffic. If a message goes out to educate pedestrians about the rules (signal your intention, pay attention, and watch out for the motorist doing everything but driving) PROB?
i'm not arguing the fact that a roundabout is a good thing.
Compared to a regular intersection, there are fewer places in a roundabout to be hit by a car. Injuries tend to be less severe because cars are slower in roundabouts.
Splitter islands provide a refuge for pedestrians, while halfway across. You only have to judge traffic going one way, into the roundabout or out of it.
my PROB is that our tax money is paying for ads to describe how to cross the street. what ever happened to common sense?
Nice dissertation on the roundabout. Common sense has gone the way of the "dodo". Your issue is "municipal spending" and I don't think this is the spot. These folks have a fixed budget for this type of promotion. The trick, use it wisely. A million pamphlets would be a waste. They should get good bang for the buck with this. The website says "produced by CTV". Perhaps they kicked in. I suggest pick on the Feds. Municipal spending is the most scrutinized, where the buck hits the street.
Congratulations are due on some excellent steps being taken to educate the public.
A complaint among motorists is the lack of effort to educate those who can't seem to understand how to negotiate Roundabouts. After spending millions of dollars on a project, only a few dollars, if any, are invested to educate the public on how to best use a new roadway.
Contrary to that practice, the Region of Waterloo is proving exceptional in developing its Roundabout educational outreach.

And it is called a dance because the balance in a roundabout is to be treated like a dance.

He's got a great voice! I just wish the song was longer so he could show it off a bit. I heard him live and he's great.

is it just me, or does that guy have an annoying voice, at least for singing?

If I post the words to the song...maybe you could do your own version and record it as a video response? I think that would be cool!
