  • Great album. Listened to it over 2,000 times and never tire of it. The greatest film soundtrack of all time for me.

  • Im not Christian but this music perfectly encapsulates the word "REJOICE"!

  • I love this track and really enjoyed the film. Thanks for uploading!

  • I always saw Dafoe's Jesus as being representative of all humankind, and that the main challenge of the story was man's problem of remaining human and toiling life upon earth or becoming more than human overcoming ourselves.

  • Why does everyone have to say they are an atheist but yet they enjoyed this movie. I mean, I dont say that I'm American but I liked Robin Hood or Braveheart. If you enjoyed the movie thats all that need be said, I dont think it was made in an attempt to convert anyone to any one religion.

  • Spirit overcomes!

  • Wow people. I was moved too, and as an atheist, this film gave me respect for the representation of what Jesus means. Even us arguing betrays his message. He was a man that wanted to be man but knew he had to be more. He died for us. He bled. He suffered. I respect what he said. This music and film did that. But I don't think yelling at an atheist with conscious decisions to not believe is proving anything. I don't need to believe to be moved. I just need to think.

  • Isaiah 52:15

So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for [that] which had not been told them shall they see; and [that] which they had not heard shall they consider.

  • Some artist just have a grip - Human emotion, human spirit, human life.

The ear piercing sound and the next notes are such achievement... The sound layers off into a simplicity that is only understood by the ones who search deep inside themselves. It is worth the pain and suffering. Death leads to rebirth.

Something beyond the heart and the soul.

At some moment in time - You will understand it

    And when you do

    Remember it

    Pass it on

    And Never

    Never

    Never - Let It Go

  • Stop SCREAMING IN MY EAR! Damn that beginning aint never head a squawk like dat be4!

  • what movie is everyone refferring to about this song?

  • @atlanta5321

The Last Temptation of Christ, by Martin Scorsese

  • Esta tudo consumado...

  • This movie is brilliant, nobody can't even compare to Gobson's Catholic saga Passion of Christ. Scorsese gave us an honest masterpiece about a probably activist who was just insecure and had nobody to help him. Now people adore his name, but didn't get his message. I'm an athiest and got it ! haha

  • @trfreitaslivre "Nobody can't" is a double negative, so you're implying that people CAN compare Passion to this.

  • ugenui you should be ashamed of yourself this is a terrible version or this track

  • wow. i have the album and this is terrible. it sounds re-dun

  • i have the soundtrack and this is not the version of that track. infect. this is different from my version

  • Love the ending to this movie. The great thing about this film is that you don't have to be a Christian to appreciate it. Even if you don't believe in Jesus, you can relate to the way Scorcese's version of Jesus struggled between feeding his own passions and serving a cause that was greater than himself. Even though Christians bashed the film when it was released, many of today's Christians endorse it due to the universal moral message it presents.

  • Whether you're an agnostic, an atheist, a christian or any other religion for that

matter, this piece has the power to move the soul.

  • Mustafa Abdel Aziz - arghul drone

David Bottrill - tambourine 2, distorted slide

    Billy Cobham - drums, tambourine

    Nathan East - bass

Peter Gabriel - doholla, additional percussion,

Roland D-50, piano, Prophet 5, voice

    David Rhodes - Steinberger guitar

    David Sancious - Hammond organ

  • Brilliant, after all these years I'm still captivated by this piece. This music together with the last shot of the film is pure divine intervention. Scorsese even said that the last shot of the film was divine intervention.

  • Happy Easter everyone.

  • Still, after all these years - this music still blows me off my feet.

    Thanks for sharing this!!

  • this is some serious stuff... awesome

  • When PG is PG... he seems directly inspired from heaven!

  • where can i find this version?

  • At the end of the movie. Not the version of the soundtrack lp

  • @ugenui so wait i can get this single lp? or can i get it on mp3?

  • @ugenui Hey I hope everything is good. Is that picture supposed to be black man.

  • @LEGACYjunkie1951 this is a terrible version. i have the real Peter Gabriel SDT

  • la cereza que corona al pastel

  • this is a awesome track! bravo peter

  • nice soundtrack. :D

  • I'm an atheist, as well...but damn, this song, and this movie...Willem Dafoe...he's the motherfucking man...this movie made me cry...beautiful...

  • @JosephK1980 Funny how you say: "I'm an atheist, but I love this movie". One day, hopefully when you are very very old, you'll be dying. Then I would like to know if you are still an atheist. It's easy to pretend to be an atheist... when you think you don't need God. Just throwing it out there. Being atheists is the easy way out and a weak excuse. No offense intended.

  • @erpatata82 Wait a minute...I AM TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT?!!! I'm terrified of death, but I DON'T TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT AND BELIEVE IN SOME FUCK IN THE CLOUDS THAT MAKES ME LIVE FOREVER. Who is taking the easy way out here? I'm TRULY wondering at your logic. And I will be old and dying, but I'll have the fucking courage to know that this was it, everything I've lived IS IT. Nothing after, no fucking whispy clouds and winged angels trumpeting my 'everlasting' life.

  • @JosephK1980 Well, that is of course the reaction I expected. But the movie made you cry..... I'm curious why you cried. Because the ending of the movie is the fact that Jesus accepts to be the Messiah and be reunited with God after his weakness on the cross. I'm wondering why you liked the movie, that's all. Continue being an atheist, what do I care? As if I'm here to persuade you to believe in God....

  • @erpatata82 "It's easy to pretend to be an atheist... when you think you don't need God. Just throwing it out there. Being atheists is the easy way out and a weak excuse. No offense intended." Your words. Then, "Continue being an atheist, what do I care? As if I'm here to persuade you to believe in God...." You contradict yourself. Oh, and saying "Just throwing it out there", which implies you don't care for how it's received, followed by "No offence intended"? That's kind of dumb.

  • @JosephK1980 Even though the evidence is in front of me it's hard to believe that the person who wrote "this movie made me cry...beautiful..." went on to say "I DON'T TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT AND BELIEVE IN SOME FUCK IN THE CLOUDS" and "Now fuck off with your bearded deity who sits on a throne in the clouds. GOD IS SANTA CLAUS FOR ADULTS". Was it the entire Christian population who offended you, or just erpatata82? I agree erpatata was insulting but please think more carefully before retaliating.

  • @erpatata82 And you have offended me, you weak minded little fool. Now fuck off with your bearded deity who sits on a throne in the clouds. GOD IS SANTA CLAUS FOR ADULTS...

  • @JosephK1980 With respect, If God is as you describe... nothing more than a bearded guy on a cloud, then I guess I too am an atheist. But that's a childish oversimplification, in my view, not uncommon among atheists. Reason and logic prevent me from standing in awe of the universe while also suggesting mere chance was the cause of it. I mean, how many times in a row can one roll snake eyes on dice before you logically and reasonably assume the dice are loaded? Thus I believe in science AND God.

  • Americans: people incapable of Philosophy

  • @PieroxLord Yet the whole world wants to be like us! They hate us but want what us Americans have? And here is America, correcting the stupidity of the ancient Roman Empire! Yes Italian! It was YOUR COUNTRY that cause all the death and chaos in the Middle East! The banishing of the Jews from Judeah during Nero and the renaming of Judah and Israel to ...... PALISTINE! So pray to your lesser gods and your false prophet, the Pope. Yahweh will make His word come to past very soon!

  • @Bamabrat96 @Bamabrat96 Priest People thinks like priests, Warrior People thinks like warriors, Merchant People thinks like merchants. It is a "natural" law. I suppose you has got a priest attitude.

Yawheh is the name of what priests adore. And the cross scandal is there, ready to demolish priests and their god. It is accomplished.

  • @JosephK1980 it's a pretty great movie and this is one of the better title ending sequences in my mind anyway...

  • @JosephK1980 Actually..no you are not an atheist..you just the typical mass of contradictions and

confusions..you are moved ty the song..but cannot say what the emotions are that move you without

admitting to religious feelinggs, you pretend to like Dafoe's role..but not what makes the role

so powerful...you cry..but then betray your own tears..oh well..a typical modern lost case...nothing

    new or interesting here

  • @JosephK1980 kazantzakis said he was an atheist...but he wrote about Christ

an a atheist like you listened to a song like this...

i believe people thaya say that they are atheist just want to make an argument why THEY believe in God...

  • davvero un album molto profondo

  • Awesome

  • I've always been an atheist, never really did believe in the Bible's happenings, but this song...

No, this entire album is a thing of genius. The music within is just purely amazing, well composed, and an excellent fusion of modern beats and music around the world.

I wish I still had the LP. Even though some of these tracks are unnerving (especially Disturbed), they're art in one of its purest forms.

I just wish age treated Peter Gabriel's looks better.

  • A place where There is a source of everlasting light!

  • @jasoncreations Why is 'there' capitalised?

  • The Middle East's beautiful screams... People scream like this to celebrate and protest things... Beautiful as life itself...

  • wha its bioufiful estas magifico c'est extraordinaire voila ce que je dit

  • che alito divino

    campane a festa

l'uomo che è in noi ha la sua soundtrack per evaporare lentamente al vivere terreno

    che schifo questa quotidianità mediocre

  • "IT IS ACCOMPLISHED!"

  • @Vishvakarman Well done for re-posting the title of the song in upper-case with speech marks and an exclamation mark.

  • @izzardfan Thanks man! Just quoting the movie's victorious last line.

  • An uplifting, yet haunting piece of music. Peter Gabriel is a frigging genius!

  • This is a piece of refine work... Thanks for uploading it.

  • You have been more than helpful Sri. I can tell that you are a lover of knowledge like me. I recall trilling as something I couldn't do in high school when I was learning Spanish. I can do it now, 20 years later! I will look up vocal trilling--thank you and take care.

  • Always happy to help out. If you need anything else please don't be hesitant to call on me. Enjoy the Lord's sunshine and go with God. Amen.

  • The noise in the beginning is how women in the middle east express themselves and various emotions from joy to sorrow. It is found among both Arabs, Jews (who are both semetic peoples) and Persians. Also, it can be found among Native American tribes and in other various cultures of the world. It is a universal noise.

  • Thank you so much for that intelligent explanation! I love that sound and wish I could do it myself. Do you know what any of the cultures you mentioned call the vocalization? I would like to research more about it:-)

  • I believe the technique is called "vocal trilling" in various languages. I haven't been able to find a website with good information but I am sure there is one out there. Try looking up trilling and you should eventually come across the information that you seek. Hope I have been of some help to you! :D

  • @SriBhagavadBansuri It's interesting how Gabriel combines this ululation or zaghareet with the sound of church bells.

  • @SriBhagavadBansuri this is an interesting comment, finally.

  • @SriBhagavadBansuri You forgot to mention Africa, where the sound originated

  • LOL! Yeah it could be taken for that too. But I've heard tribal women make that sound. I don't know what it is or what it's called. I believe there is a scene in this movie (TLTOC) with a woman doing it. This isn't a audio Rorschach test, but I hear an otherworldly sound...

  • Though it's not, in my mind I've always associated the beginning sounds with monkeys in the jungle jeering, as they do when danger is near or a death has occurred. Seems fitting for the ending of the film.

  • Perfect. What is that sound in the beginning? Women? Angels? (smiling)

  • thanks for uploading xD good song

  • Hell yeah'(ironic little compliment, eh? hehehehe)...Peter Gabriel is the man.

  • Great song..........
