First of all, I love that photo above Casy's bed! It's a classic! And also...people need to understand that Casey's entire family is part of the problem-not just Casey, not just her dad, not just anybody-all of them as a whole. Since they're all part of the problem, they all need to be part of the solution. That's why the family therapy session near the end was really why made a HUGE difference, and was the great beginning in Casey's recovery.

@CrimsonVibrato In 2005 there were around 1200 people killed by their spouses, almost one third of the spouses who did the killing were women. I think you are very courageous! This is really touchy stuff!

@CrimsonVibrato You say you're "highly educated", but keep changing your "facts". First domestic violence figures "are about the same" for men and women, and then men get battered a lot more? Oh, and based on your "I've seen at least three cases of wives burning their men with cigarettes for example." Three examples? Yes, that is what I call a representative sample. When will they give you the Nobel Prize for research?

@CrimsonVibrato I don't know what psychiatric ward you live in, but in society at large (and I mean at a GLOBAL scale, not whatever backwater you live in) women are restrained from using any kind of violence, unless it is convenient for the system (i.e. when they run out of men to fight). Otherwise, boys are raised in the belief that fighting is a manly thing, an accomplishment. Or what planet do you come from?

@CrimsonVibrato on the contrary, feminists completely acknowledge the statistics on battered men. These prove that women can be as violent as men, a central tenet of feminism. I think the problem here is that you don't know what feminism actually *is*. Feminism simply means that women and men are equal (in rights and duties, and in their capacity for good and evil).

@babybunnyberry FYI, statistics on the percentage of men as victims of domestic violence fluctuate between 17% and 29% of all cases of domestic violence in Western countries. In non-Western societies, where women are likely to be stoned to death, burned alive, etc. they make less than 1%. There are places called libraries out there. Read. It is the only way to actually stop putting that foot in your mouth.

@CrimsonVibrato 4) Finally: Do some REAL reading about eating disorders AND about feminism. *I* don't get my education off the internet; there are places called Universities where you can actually read real peer-reviewed materials in clinical psychology, as well as domestic violence and feminism.

This is simply as men are allowed to use violence a lot more, and even encouraged to translate a lot of their emotions as rage (frustration, concern, sadness). Do women start more fights than men? I'd love to read a scientific study that proved this either way.

@CrimsonVibrato 2) Are women as violent as men? Yes. Feminists have been saying this for years: women are indeed perfectly capable of defending themselves; it is only lack of training that makes them weak. Are women more prone to violence than men? No. Statistics are about the same.

No. Domestic violence is the first cause of death for women worldwide (more than cancer, and more than all accidents put together). I suggest you actually do some serious reading on the topic, as your views are clearly quite warped.

@CrimsonVibrato I didn't say he was the sole cause, but he is certainly the main cause of the problem. I didn't say that women could not be controlling, but women tend to be less violent about their control (not always, but there is a tendency; hence the numbers of battered wives against battered husbands). And...are you trying to use the word "feminist" as an insult?
