  • I really wish "MJ's" would use more models who are a 4b or 4c typ or better yet show a actual demo from the salon. I want this product to work considering the 30$ I shelled out . I have watched other videos and girls are using herbal essences (like 4$ a bottle) and eco styler gel (like 3$ ajar) and getting results similiar to THIS for 7$ and they women who do are 4b 4c types. I have thick hair that resembles a "zig zag" pattern pulling a rat tail comb thru would damage my (and most girls) hair .

  • I can't wait to try this......she has exactly my curl pattern :-) I hope the results are as pretty.

  • yessss the products are very expensive and I worry if I buy it it will not work on my hair and I will be out $32. I'm a single mom and college student so I can waste money. I wont lie I kinda worry this wont work on my hair becuase it is not "good" as the model in the vid. I think I have either 4b or c hair(I dont really know). I havent been able to get my define my curls like I really want or see other gals do.

  • @MAJazzy08 I know what you mean, i'm a college student also on a budget, i finally tried the curling pudding and love it! i bought the 8oz size just in case at Target and it cost about $22 in my area my hair is a mix of 4b and 3c and maybe some other patterns lol. you might be able to search your hair type and miss j. product on youtube and find someone with your similar hair texture with their own vid. this website helped too: naturallycurly (dot) com

  • her natural curl pattern is beautiful as well as after but on another note, can i buy that shirt??

  • it came out really cute!! do you take appointments out of state? if so what are your prices for something like this or a silkener at the salon?

  • @brittybear9742 I like her hair before way better than her hair after. That part and the whole hairstyle just isn't working for me

question for everyone: what is a silkener?

  • the first shot of the model's hair... did she have any product in it or was it completely natural? Personally, I like her hair before she put all the product in it. Tell her I said I'm super jealous of her curl pattern... for now lol. I'm gettin' mines together.

  • i'd like to see this demonstrated on 4b/4c hair.

  • I mean... I want to love y'all but look how hard her hair looks on the top when she's done. And like every girl who goes to y'alls salons has a silkener which-- what even was the point of going natural in the first place? It looks good, but you have to style that just like I have to style mine

  • Love this --is she natural or permed?

  • Hi guys, I'm a long-time user of the Curly Pudding for styling, and I absolutely love it! It turns my kinky curls into smooth defined curls like nothing else I've tried (and I've tried a lot, believe me).

The original scent, though, is too strong for my sensitive nose, so I use the unscented version. I really REALLY wish you would make Unscented Curly Pudding in the 16 oz size...any plans to do this in the future?

  • my hair is coarse and puffy, i used the curly pudding to see if it will curl and than sat under the dryer, but it came out the same, any advise on how i should use curly pudding for my coarse hair??

  • Wow! Her hair looks beautiful after!

  • I'm not African I'm actually Asian and I love your guys hair. It's so beautiful! But I just wanted to ask, how does it feel to have all of this product in your hair?

  • She looks kinda like a black Heidi Klum :)

  • Right now I have an allergic reaction from the curly pudding . my face look bad! today I went on the page of miss jessies to do a live chat., but wen I was telling my story, she ended the chat session. It makes me sad, because i really like the product and I only wanned to ask what I should do the next time when I want to used it.........

  • do you have to use heat for the Shingling method to work?

  • what's so funny at the end??? lol i wanna laugh too!

  • great shine and hold.. looks moisturizing too

  • Does this work on 4b hair

  • Aww she is so cute. She has such a cute face, eyes and smile.

  • awww she's adorable :) & her curls are cute!

  • Where can i get a curly shirt?

  • @devannspink miss jessies website :) THEY are always SOLD OUT! so, keep tryin lol

  • How does the product feel on the hair? Does it feel sticky? Does it leave a residue on clothing or furniture? How does is smell?

Will some, who has tried the meringue, please comment. How long does this last? What leave conditioner works best with the meringue the next day?

  • models hair isbeautiful. im glad you guys are selling in target now, ive been considering buying since last year...but this is the type of look ive been looking for

  • i was just going to ask about how long this last. and also ive noticed that you guys have great videos on how to do the hair style such as twist out or shingling, but it doesnt say how to maintain it like after sleeping on it

  • Does this method work on long hair? I have 3c curly hair that hits my mid-back. I want to try shingling but I'm afraid that my hair may not dry completely, the ends especially, using a table dryer.

  • If Almara has let her hair grow longer, it would be nice to see how shingling works for longer 3b/3c hair....Thanks Curlsgalore and Miss Jessie´s for all these great videos!:-))) The twist out was very helpful, by the way especially the nighttime care and 2nd day hair addition.

  • I Wish The Products Weren't So Expensive ..=(

  • Will this work on 3c hair? My curls are clearly visible, but the hardest part is the frizz. Also, I heard its best to use curly meringue on 3c hair, because the pudding is to heavy on it. May you help me on this?

  • what size jar is that<

  • I ve tried this before with cantu shea butter, I ll see how miss jessies works on my hair too.

  • hi this is great but i think u should do a turtorial on someone with a higher texture like 4b/c? also do you have to diffuse after the hooded dryer ? can i just leave it like that after the hoodede dryer?

  • cute model

  • I agree with lace this. If you could get the same consistent results for $5 then this company would not be so successful. Many peopld cannot get the look that they want with "juices and berries! LOL" Also, why do people keep complaining about the loose hair textures? watch all of the videos. the lady in the latest 2 strand twist video has the tightest hair I've ever seen and the products worked for her. This tells me that these products can work for everyone.

  • @MsKinkydiva hmm well not everything works for everyone...there is always gonna be a certain type of hair that isn't going to agree w/ this product...and i am sure there are cheaper products that work just as good or even better...sometimes ppl look to high priced products first because they cost sooo much and the higher the price the better quality it is made out to be...

  • I would really like to see how this works for 4a/4b hair cause all i'm seeing is 3b/3c hair types in these videos...

  • @Skyy2121

Try it on your hair. I have 3c hair, and the models portrayed are not 3b nor 3c. Most of them are 4a and sometimes even 4b. 3c hair is more like rachel true and corrine bailey rae...the models here don't have that kind of texture. It looks to me that these videos cater more to you, sweetheart.

  • @polar86lietus I stated what I observed. no need for attitude.. and from the likes of it... I'm not the only one who sees this as a common denominator. Nothing wrong with it, but it can be as simple as saying this products works for hair types (-,-,-,) But of course that would be considered a bad business move.. why not get everyone's money.. but in no way am i downing it i just simply wanted to know. u took it totally another way then how initially intended.

  • in response to people complaining about the price:

How can you knock something if you haven't tried it? No offense but you just sound cheap. I've used Miss Jessie's products for year and although they are expensive it's worth the investment.

  • @lacethis

First of all, is isn't a complaint. Anyone can see that charging $20 for some hair creme is ridiculous. And why would anyone pay that much for one product when there are thousands of other products that work just as good, if not BETTER, for under $5? Just because YOU use Miss Jessies and have good results doesn't mean everyone else does. And no one's knocking the product. I just refuse to pay $20 for ONE hair product. And judging by the reviews I've read, it's not all that

  • I'm transitioning and would like to know what products do the same for $5. I'm in Grad School and I need to stretch my money along with my 4a curls lol

  • Congrats on grad school. I just inished in June of 09 and it was worth it. I am unsure of my hair type because it doesn't all look the same, but I use al natural avocado cream from a natural store. It costs up to $10.00 but a little goes a long way. I also use a leave-in conditioner that is creamy and doesn't leave my hair flaky. Try those two things on dry hair and keep it tucked in. It will improve the condition of your hair in a few hours.

  • Go to tightly curlys website and she has a nice method. I use many naturals swear by Ecostyler gel in either the Krystal clear or the Olive oil one. I love the stuff! Layer with a conditioner then apply the gel then seal with an oil like almond, shea or jojoba. You get great sheen and hold for a fraction of the cost. I usually kepp my hair in twists or twistouts. It is too hot to wear it down like the girl in this video.

  • I agree, these products are SO WORTH IT! They work better than any other product I've tried.

  • she used alot of product.

do u have to use alot of product for it to work?

  • Hi xoxPRINCEZ2011,

you don't need to use much, it all depends on your hair length and density, you may use a small amount and see how it works with your hair. Much love and respect from Miss Jessie's.

  • Ethipians aren't Africans. Tell that to the millions of Ethiopians living in Africa. LOL.

  • What doesn't make them africans???

  • lol wow Ethiopians are def Africans

  • I loved the high quality video and how you have the model doing her hair on her own to show how easy it is to use. I think I'll subscribe. Is it possible to get a model that has 4 (a,b,c) hair next time? I'd love to see what it does for that hair type before I commit to purchasing. Thanks. :-)

  • WORD! Love my African brothers and sisters. My good friend is Eritrean.

  • Hi BartTempleton,

thank you for your point of view, and we agree with you. At the end we believe that we are all brothers and sister regardless of hair pattern, unity is the power to move people unity is the road most of us take to embrace who we are as a people. much, much love and respect to you, friends and family from Miss Jessie's

  • Hi Banksparty4,

again we respect your opinion, we would like to know what you would consider Black hair perhaps if you can place a photo of yourself on your profile we can see the example of how black hair suppose to be, maybe this way you can show our audience what you are trying to convey. once again we strongly believe that the spectrum of hair texture is vast and there is no two curls that are exactly the same. Much love respect and gratitude from Miss Jessie's.

  • I'm not talking bad about the products, I'm sure they work great as it is a multi million dollar business. Just giving my opinion on the model used. Most natural black women would not be able to sweep that little tiny comb through their hair like it was nothing.

  • Hi Banksparty4,

we respect your opinion, we at Miss Jessie's see a larger spectrum of African American hair at our salon all the time, according to our observation, studies and hands on from 10 years experience, we believe that there is no typical African American hair, just like the shades of color of our skin, the spectrum is long. Much love and respect from Miss Jessie's.

  • i agree, majority of black girls have tighter curls, its just a fact. How does miss Jessie address that hair type. You cant ignore

  • Hi curlsgalore, Thanks 4 the beautiful vids. I´d love to try Miss Jessie´s, the hold is great, if it starts out a little "crunchy" that´s ok because this will hold the look w/out frizz at least a couple days. It would be nice if this was available in Germany. Great website too! The PDF´s for various hairtypes helped. LADIES, I have 3b/3c hair and have learned most of what I know about hair from my 4a, 4b Utube sistas. People of AFRICAN ancestry have uniquely GORGEOUS HAIR. Love u guys!!;-))

  • I use a fraction of the amount that she used with lots of water and air dry. consistent results is why I like it. I am type 4a/3c I believe.

  • I didn't see much change. The before pic was cute, it just needed to be moisturized and reshaped. Not impressed.

  • there is no average african american hair especially when its natural hair....just like all the different shades of brown in our skin our hair textures vary whether its a 3 type or 4 type there are still other factors like porosity, volume, thickness and so on

  • omg there is not such thing as normal black hair. just like there is no normal black skintone. i have been curly almost all my life and my hair has been a mixture of 3b 3c and 4a. to find two curly ladies who have the exact same "curlies" would be like finding a needle in a haystack. having good looking curls is about the amount of moisture & the way of stying that your particular hair needs. if you know your own hair it will always be beautiful wether it looks like the models or not

  • this video is HOOOTT!

YOU JUST GOT A SUB FROM ME.

my hair is just like her's . i'm definitely going to buy this!

  • i have 4b hair. my hair does NOT shake loosely like the featured model.

  • The texture of hair that is on the models you use is not that of the average African American Women's hair. The results will not be as beautiful as what we see. That is a false expectation that you are giving us as to how our hair will look after. Please use someone with Nappy Hair like me.

  • Hi BeyondHollywood,

Curly hair has a large spectrum of different textures, soon we will put more videos extending textures spectrum, we will also feature a video for tight curl pattern such as you suggested. We are not placing videos for false expectations, we provide videos for all those who have different textures in the curly hair movement. We will have more videos with various curly hair textures soon.

  • thats alot of product shes using in one take just to get the max effect

  • DAMN! im kinda mad that i bought the curly pudding when i was suppose to buy the Curly Meringue

    Curly Pudding-For Natural Hair(Never got a relaxer)

Curly Meringue- For Relaxed hair(Not Natural)

  • This is the best video for advice ever!!!

i was wondering if the products have chemicals and where you can find them?

  • i plan on buying this around christmas if they have their buy one get one free sale. do you guys think it can work without heat since i dont use any on my hair

  • ordered my products today both the curly pudding and curly meringues. i have to admit i feel a little naughty since i'm an organic natural and not all their ingredients are natural but i couldnt resist and it was BOGO lol

  • she is gorgeous n looks ethopoian or east african , but my hair is not curly like that so i could not do this

  • I have 4b hair could this even work for me?

  • this wouldn't be a good technique to use often. With the heat and constant manipulation. I'm going to have to agree with xoxFlychickxox on this one, her hair DOES look crunchy...which WILL cause breakage over an extended period of time. IDK, everyone's intitled to their own preferences.

  • Curly Meringue is not a gel so it will not leave your hair feeling crunchy or hard, it has a minimal hold.

  • ok so i have 3c hair can i do this with my hair??? and should i use curly meringue or curly puddin?

  • golf ball sized amount of product? isnt that a bit much?

  • so why was the comment by CoilsKinksCurls removed by the author? were they telling the truth?

  • You can tell her hair is crunchy :/

  • I don't care how good the product SEEMS. I'm not paying $20 or more for something that 1) probably is just hype and no results, and 2) when I can find something else for $5 and below that works A LOT better.

  • Comment removed

  • I believe it's only one of the owners who has a silkener the other is natural. To each there own I'm thinking about getting the silkener myself. As far as the look and the products different styles and items work differently for each person. There are a few not a lot of natural products that have done nothing to my hair.

  • Her Hair looks CRUNNCHY.

not exactly the look i wanna go for

    -_-

  • ladies do your research on this product. They have deleted all my comments that I made (it was a conversation with another lady) this stuff doesnt have 100% natural ingredients and contains mineral oils. Overpriced and the owners arent even natural. They have chemicals in their hair. dont fall for the hype.

  • Thank-you because I was about to try their buttercreme. Glad I came across your post.

  • im glad i found this out too!!

  • thanks!!

  • @FoodNKixs they never claim the products were 100% natural...its just catered to curly hair and in the site it says miko has a silkener in her hair....the ingredients are listed on each product for the consumers discretion...its hype around it because it works!! it says what it does at least for me.

  • @FoodNKixs Hi FoodNKixs we at Miss Jessie's have not deleted your comments. We respect your opinion, once again our products do not change your hair curl patter our products are not like relaxers perms and texturizers. Yes Titi does have a chemical process, if she did not it would take her atleast 4 hours or more to style her hair since is very large in volume. Miko is 100% natural. we do not pressure anyone to buying our products is up to you to make that decision. Much love Miss Jessie's.

  • @curlsgolore miss jessie's i love the way you handled that, it was very lady like and mature, btw ur products rock im loving my natural hair, i tried your products after my sister and friend told me about seeing you guys at the brooner bros. ahir show in atlanta, thanks for your products!

  • @foxylilmimi i agree. miss jessie's keeps thir comments very professional regardless of hater comments. great products by the way

  • Her looks really crunchy. Bad. Too much product.

  • I agree, too crunchy looking

  • Soo what exactly is shingling?

  • Meh, I liked her texture before the product. Maybe she should have added less :o/.

But this method did stretch the hair and added length which is always good.

  • Am i the only one who thinks the "before" is pretty cute? Spray some leave-in conditioner on it and she's good.

  • Yup! I agree! You are not alone! =)

  • That not my hair in it natral state! lol

My hair is like puff without any visible curliness at all.

  • Girl! I feel ya on that one.. I really think it would be more helpful to have like 3 or 4 different vids of this with a few different hair types

  • i use the product and it will give thicker hair also i think its one of the greatest curl products and it smells delicious!

  • Octavia- If your in Ny Ms. Jessie products are sold at Ricki's. The smallest jar is 8$ the largest jar is like 22-32$

  • GvannD, forgot to say I also use IC Fantasia Aloe gel then my Denman brush to define the curls after the other products. My hair is also very wet after a conditioner poo and deep conditioner and long rinse.

  • My hair is ten times thicker and I have tighter curls but I have tried shingling with a leave in condition by Cantu and it has an effect like Miss Jessie's btw cantu is $4.95 at walmart. So I will stick with it!

  • Yup! I'm gonna try this with Cantu - I recently used i for my twists and I'm in love! =)

  • I would love to see this technique done on 4a b or c hair...

  • GvannD, I use my own leave-in, raw shea butter mixed with jojoba and oil of peppermint to get the same effect. Search around, there is another Miss Jessies model doing a similar technique with two strand twists.

  • what does shingle mean.? where can i buy the merengue pudding. i have 3c 4a hair, very short and silkener? what is this and how does this work?.

  • I used to be able to do this when I had a relaxer, and it'd turn out just like this fairly well. I used a diffuser though and not the over head hair dryer. I wonder how it would work (or not) on my natural hair now, 4a.

  • Comment removed

  • Cute but this model CLEARLY has like 3b hair...not nearly normal black hair.

  • lmao! *smh at black women*

  • No need to shake your head or laugh. Instead of mocking or trying to subtly put our sister down, let's try to not be obtuse, and understand what she's trying to say. That the beautiful black model has different texture from what we usually attribute to black african hair. Not that 3a or 3b hair is not normally black hair, just not what is commonly attributed to black african hair, like 4a, 4b, 4c. Okay? =)

  • wow she is african can't you tell im from west africa and i know she's from the east you said black african hair well guess what africans also have 3a or 3b hair

  • Yes, I can tell she's East African. Funnily enough, I'm from West Africa myself. My mother is, as well as her entire family line. My mother has type 3 hair. Of course, I know that African's have all types of hair. Please let's not be obtuse. Because we also all know there is a specific type to which most of us are referring to, including myself. Okay?

  • I think I mentioned that in my original message also. To be exact, I said: "Not that 3a or 3b hair is not normally black hair."

Let's night fight. Ok? Please understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks.

  • you have a problem?

  • Not usually - just when folks get bored and try to defend a pointless cause.

  • that's not true

  • Yes it is true. The beautiful black model has different texture from what we usually attribute to black african hair. Not that 3a or 3b hair is not normally black hair, just not what is commonly attributed to black african hair, like 4a, 4b, 4c. Okay?

  • uuummm ok?

  • really....Then I wonder why is it so expensive I heard it starts at 300 dollars...ouch!

  • Has anyone had the silkener done to their hair before at the miss jessies salon ?

  • You don't have to use this product to shingle your hair. Shingling is a method of applying products to your hair. You can shingle with conditioner, a soft hold gel like Fantasia or Ecostyler, KCCC, shealoe etc. If you have any sort of curl pattern, you can shingle!

  • I do this on type 4a hair and it works! By type 4a, I mean super coily/curly.

  • yeah do this on 4A type hair. lol. then we'll see if it works

  • If your interested in seeing this done on 4A hair PM me.

  • im interested in seeing this done of 4A hair

  • wow, it really does make the difference...

but how does the hair feel after? It is dry? Or moisturized?

  • can i do this with any leave in conditioner and just let it air dry?

  • my hair texture is very similiar to the model and I use Carol Daughter's hair milk. Couldn't I get the same results with out using the Curly Meringue?

  • I need to see this being done on kinky hair. Then maybe I'll be impressed.

  • OKAY!?!!?!!

  • YYYYYYYUP!!!! And until then.. not risking my $35 or whatever it costs... A sista's gotta eat! So kinks R Us!!! =)

  • our products delivers premium ingredients an is made in USA.

  • this song is highly irritating.

    but the videos are execellent!

  • *LMBO* your comment about the song.

  • She is beautiful and so is her hair!!

  • she has beautiful hands. they should be inna nail polish ad

  • I love the cut of her hair

  • I love how they use a model with a sort of soft hair...why not try someone with 4b...Miss jessie think there slick!!!!

  • Word, her hair looks like that coming out of the shower!

  • they do have methods for 4b hair.

shingling works but look at the website for other methods

  • I have been using a process like this for many years to make my hair naturally curly with various products. What is that you have trademarked? The name Shingling to describe the process, or the actual process itself? I don't see how this was "developed" in the salon when there are others who do this, although I can personally attest to not many because I usually have to teach stylist how to do this if I don't want to leave the salon with my hair flat ironed.

  • her hair's not like mine, but its cute

    i like her hair before...

  • I don't mean to be rude, but why does this product cost so much? I could just as easily shingle my hair with homemade flax seed gel.

  • Miss Jessie's Hair care collection is 100% made in USA from high quality ingredients to accommodate the best results possible.

  • Just to let everyone know mineral oil is not a high quality ingredient, it is rather cheap and pretty bad for your hair, especially curly hair of any type.

  • Since when did mineral oil become a high quality ingredient? I can get 32oz of it from walgreens for $3 dollars lmao

  • I don't understand why they do that. If the product is really that good, they wouldn't have to make the hair (which is usually nice from jump street) stand all crazy and look like the dude from the Little Rascals. You can see it makes the hair look good, but it would have been more convincing if it looked kinda bad in the first place.

  • Her hair is gorgeous!

  • how can i turn my hair to be naturally curly?

  • You can't "turn" your hair naturally curly. It either is or it isn't.

  • I know!

I want my hair naturally curly to!

  • If you have kinky hair then it is curly. But we, as black people, tend to have more dehydrated hair. So, it's important to get your hair to the right moisture level in order to get your hair to "curl" up. However, your hair may be more coily than curly.

  • Coily?

My hair was curly before but some how it went all straight..

  • Uhh ohh... what have you been doing?

  • You hit the nail on the head, hollyhollyrose. Thank God for YouTube to educate sisters about hair. Nothing wrong with frizzy, kinky, coily or nappy hair. You just need to know how to treat it . My hair is like the model in the picture. My daughters' hair textures and curl pattern and frizz level is different from mine. BUT we can all share the same care and styling regimen with great results. One is curlier than the other, but all 3 of us still rock clean, healthy, natural hair. HYDRATE!!

  • pretty model!

  • Oh my damn, her hair type looks similar to mine! I can't believe I finally found a video featuring someone w/ a somewhat similar texture to mine. Now I REALLY gotta try these products. This is going in my favorites. Her results were beautiful too. Does anyone know her hair letter type (A,B,C,D or whatever it is)? I don't know what category my hair goes in. Any help is appreciated.

  • she has a really nice cut! but I didnt like the final result. she should have left out the blow dryer part because it made the hair too straight.

  • I just called the salon last night, and they said that the "Angle & Balance" hair cut it $375!!!

    $375!!!!!

Can anyone believe that?! I wonder if they do pro-bono work ;-)

  • What makes the cut $375 special?

  • Yep! I got my big chop from Miiko. Cost me 400 bucks. She shingled my hair and I hated it. Washed it out as soon as I got home. Just didnt work for me. My right and left sides are different textures so it didnt look right. And it was very greasy. I've been trying to grow out this cut for months now.

  • Whaaaaaaaaaattt???????!!!! Holy Crap.. glad I read that.

Okaaay.... That's not something I'm looking to do soon LOLOL I'd rather eat! =)

  • No doubt her hair is beautiful -- I have no hate but I've bn to Miss Jessie's, Miko and Titi are wonderful very sweet and they run a professional establishment. They don't push their silkener on you. However more than 3/4 of the women there had silkeners. I had all day to observe.

  • Can we use these methods w/o using heat and get the same results??? like insteadd of sitting under the dryer would it be ok to just airdry?

  • When you use the dryer your hair is shinier.

  • I do! I wash mine daily and re-apply the stretch silkening cream and go on with my day. My hair stays hold and looks good. I use to use gel in the front to lay down my edges but the stretch silkening cream takes care of that for me (threw the gel away). The only thing I do need to purchase is the buttercreme so I can apply extra moisterizer throughout the week. Try airdry sometimes! : o )

  • Her hair is beautiful. People have to remember natural hair can vary. Some people hair have looser curls with little shrinkage while others have tighter curls. That is the beauty of natural hair.

  • Her hair is gorgeous... therefore i can guarantee that she has a silkener.

  • ???

  • a silkener is miss jessie's patented curl loosening/reforming method aka a texturizer. thats why her hair and miko's looks that way. once you know what silkened hair looks like its easy to spot.
