Man!!! I had this on cassette when it came out. I don't know what I did with my tape, but this is bringing back a lot of memories for me. Real HIP HOP.........
Im from ireland lads, 34yrs old, been listenin to hip hop for well over a decade, back in the day of house of pain- fine malt lyrics, ice cube- death cert and all that, ,,,,,,, then i stumbled upon a boot sale that had a gangstarr album in it,,, dj premier's sublime cuts submerged me to another world of hip hop and this gem of a track always takes me back to all those gems that are in the far reaches of my mind.... Big shout out to GURU and Premo!
check discogs more often I guess...If this is a song you like then check out the rest of Da Beatminerz material; i.e. finsta bundy, shadez of brooklyn, etc.
This and the Special Ed (vinyl exclusive) track were the best on 101. I was waiting for 201 but it never came....it's time for Premo to call class in session again!!
LOL. whats up with all the thumb downs on this video? Does youtube have A&R censorship too? Oh i'm sorry, i wasnt aware that we werent living in a free country anymore. Pardon my ignorance, not aware that youtube comments are supposed to be biased. Excuse me for not being a robot, rejecting the bandwagon, and forming my own opinion about the music that i appreciate. And i will even add on to that. Along with domestic, local, Midwest, East, South, West Coast, and Int'l hip hop I also listen to Gospel hip hop. I try not to rob myself the freedom of listening to ALL types of hip hop. Secular as well as Christian are great sources to find hip hop. And i'm also well aware that the majority of emcees who are considered lyrical belong to either Zulu Nation or 5% nation of Islam. Killah Priest claims 2...he is both Jewish and Islamic. BlackHebrewIsraelite (jew),

......dj quik doesn't put enough emotion into his beats. Its all about fast paced g-funk guitar strings which is kool but i desire more emotion when it comes to beats. Alchemist is kool, there are MANY beats i like from him but sometimes hes too commerical/mainstream. I'm starting to love DJ Khalil of Self Scientific. DJ Cheapshot, Rhettmatic, Kutmasta Kurt, and WarrenG are my top elite West Coast favorites. M-boogie and Diverse are honorable mentions.
Man what no love for DJ Revolution, PB Wolf, Nu Mark-Cut Chemist, Madlib, Babu??!!!! Your West Coast elite list is sadly not as elite as you think..don't get me wrong if you a hip hop head much love, but need to be doing what real DJs do and keep diggin in the crates brotha..oh yeah and if its emotion in beats ya looking for don't forget about Dilla!!! RIP J Dilla!
actually, i believe its pretty elite from the hip hop that i've listened to. I've been an avid hip hop listener since the age of 11 and i'm 25 now so i think thats pretty freakin long. I don't consider myself a hip hop guru but i believe that i get by fairly well. I've considered revolution, pbw and his right hand man charizma (r.i.p), i know cut chemist, madlib, babu and many others but i only listed my PREFERENCES. I know all about Dilla, he's responsible for 1 of my favorite songs.....
...that favorite song happens to b "the rhyme" by keith murray. I prefer keith murray over redman by the way. My taste is very different from most hip hop heads because i don't only go for lyrics, the production has 2 be on point as well. If a beat is wack, then whats the point of adding lyrics? The beat is whats suppose to get the emcee hyped and motivated. Anywayz, i only listed West coast producers. I could prolly name 30 or more great EAST coast producers. I listen to it all homie.

i'm in Arizona right now and have only traveled out of the country once in my life. Even though i'm an American and mostly exposed to american hip hop, I also LOVE to listen to hip hop acts from Germany, Sweden, France, Italy, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Korea, and China as well. In addition, I also listen to Canadian hip hop and respect them so much i might even move to Toronto, because thats basically NYC's little brother. They have a STRONG hip hop scene out there.
....i could even throw Warren G and DJ Quik in the mix. I love Warren G as a producer....i think he's underrated MAAADDDLLLYYYY.....Muggs is more wicked than Dre in my opinion.
true, true. his rap and flow is comparable to old school snoop. Dr. Dre usually has a ghostwriter so he doesnt even come up with his own lyrics. Warren G is a genious in his own right. But i'm curious as to how you would compare Warren G beats against Dr. Dre? do u agree that warren g beats r better than dre, or would you side with dre when it comes to beatmaking? doesn't matter 2 me, its your opinion, i won't fight u on it, lol.
I respect your opinion dawg. I guess i'm one of the very few who prefer warren g beats over dr. dre beats, haha. I know dr. dre has a much deeper history in hip hop and has released many more songs that recieved awards and whatnot, but I like Warren G because most of his beats have that laid back/r&b feel 2 it while at the same time, still Very hip hop in my opinion. DJ Muggs is great but hes 2 horrorcore 4 me, madlib is 2 experimental, dr dre is 2 hardcore & overplays the lowpitch piano key.

well yeah, its because dre is a biter. He bites off of other peoples beats and Barely puts his own spin on it. He doesn't change it up much, but in a little way he makes the beats he steals his own. Now Madlib, Alchemist, Kutmasta Kurt, Rhettmatic, DJ Muggs, BABU, Stonesthrow records producers, AmpLive from Zion I, Shortkut, etc..and all other West Coast producers r another story.

everyone knows that
but
warren g is a totally underared MC

he should get more attetention
not like dr dre but much more as he become now
