  • i am learning ....

  • i watch anime a lot, and sometimes they say "hontoni" which is translated to "really" so, can you say "hontoni arigato" or "domo arigato"? and another thing - is it better to say "gomen nasai sumimasen" instead of "arigato" ? when someone gives you something or shows you the way to a store etc?

  • woooooooooo I LOVE JAPANESE!

  • Gomen nasai!

  • That is very nice to know about these phrases and I have to learn them. I love the videos where I learn one sentence a day and hope I am able to remember it when I get to Japan. I loved being in the Tokyo area, and also on the island of Okinawa.

  • they say gomen nasai a lot in animes ^^

  • Gomen Nasai

  • whats the difference between domo and watashiwa

  • @bofhd89o The difference being is 'DOMO' is a very informal way of saying (Thanks), 'WATASHI' means ( I,) and 'WA' (sometimes can be used as a question marker ). For example 'O NAMAE WA'? (What is your name?) or sometimes can be used as a response rather than a question like 'KONNICHI WA' (Good afternoon). I hope this helps if you're not already found the answer to your question yet.....

  • @bofhd89o And of course if someone asks 'O NAMAE WA?' you can reply by saying 'WATASHI WA__________(your name) desu.

  • @TheClaudos THANK YOU UR THE BEST ;D

  • @bolshevikML yeah, and the Americans nuking several hundred thousand civilians wasn't a war crime...

  • @quietstormwater Yup. I can sense the biased opinion. I get it, we could've handled it differently. But that's nothing compared to what they did. But Japan's war crimes aren't relevant.

  • If I want to say not "sorry", but something like "I am sorry," do I say "wa-ta-shi-wa-go-men-na-sa-i?" Somebody help me!

  • @orionpirates no you wouldn't, in Japanese it's implied, you don't actually say it. So if you say gomen nasai, it actually means "I'm sorry" there's no need to actually say I or anything like that. hope that helps.

  • this sounds good

  • u r cool but u remind me of dora

  • Yeah, im half Japanese so that explains y im sometimes polite (also ExpertVillage has some great martial arts vids. Look for the bald monk in orange wearing black n white stripe socks) (he's the best) :)

  • "sounds good!" xD

  • Doomo Arigato for this video..

    Useful and I Love it..

    Pearls,

    Malaysia

  • thanks for helping me

  • wait, i thought shitsurei shimasu means excuse me. and Sumimasen means im sorry

  • yeah it's almost the same. altho u dont use shitsurei shimasu when someone did work for u and u are saying "sorry for the trouble". that is for sumimasen.

  • sumimasen lit. means "what i did is not excusable (so please excuse me)"

Its much more common thant shitsurei shimasu

  • this is the first time i heard good consecutive comments in expert vilage videos!! haha. if you want to know what im saying check other EV videos!!

  • im learning so MUCH from your videos!!

    arigato gozaimasu!!

  • ARIGATO.

  • I'm sorry..hige soori LOL!

  • Man, that is wild. I guess the Japanese are very polite people. If someone were to receive a gift and apologize for the trouble, that's a very humble person in my book.

  • @xOneWayStudiosx

That's one thing I love about Japan, everyone is so very polite.

  • gumen nasai sumimasen for teaching us

    how did i do ??

  • i have been searching the web for someone who can teach me the japanese language and u r the best!!! domo arigatu to the nth power...

  • wats gomen kudasia..??

  • i learn these words from watching Zatoichi

  • well,i have a question...if you give a japanese person a gift and he says "sumimasen"...can you say "do itashimashite"???

  • well what about "arigato"? that means "thank you" doesn't it?

  • it's the informal way to say thank you.

it's like in english, "thanks" is our informal way because "you" is cut off. in "arigatou", "domo" is cut off making it informal and vice-versa.

  • yeh

  • man this is cool! she teaches it so well!

    becoming multilingual is pretty awesome!

  • keep up the great job teaching us that beautiful language...

  • You are freakin' awesome!!

  • Im sure you said in another video that all consonants had to have a vowel after them... :/

  • every single consonant except for N. N can have vowels after it; in the Japanese alphabet, there is Na, Ni, Nu, Ne, No like the rest of the consonants, and then there's a separate symbol that's just N.

She must have forgotten to mention that.

  • Ah I see, thanks :)

  • domo sumimasen sensei!!!!!

  • this is a basic. you can hear it everytime you watch japanese movies

  • bakayaro gaijin!

  • thank you for your Japanese lessons.

    Gomen Nasai Sumimasen.

  • Why are you apologising for thanking her lol.

  • You say tihs instead of Thank You, watch the vid again lol at 0:53

  • not all the time, most cases are in witch the person had to do something for you, so you are excusing the trouble, but is kinda of thank you :D

  • he just want to pracse

  • Sakura-chan is so cool

  • saying sorry for us asians is like 2nd nature in other words WE SAY IT ALOT XD if i count how many times i say sorry in one day it will probably be more than 32x and im not exaggerating

especially that im in martial arts i would eventually hurt or bumped into people or make a mistake therefore i would say sorry more often even if it didnt hurt them thats why one day they told me to stop saying sorry and i just and up saying (*Bumped into a person*) "im sorry,Uhh..IM SOR-Ry!Ahh damn it -.-!!"

  • hahahaha been there XD

  • sounds good... XD

  • Excellent! I love how you take the time to say it in slow motion but also include "real world speed" ☺

  • thank you for upload those videos

    finally I'm learning some japanese

    greetings from chile

    :)

  • i thought sumimasen was hello, or something like that.

  • sumimasen - excuse me

    gomen nasai - im sorry

  • hello is konichiwa / in japanese romaji word konichiha

  • We do apologize really often I think it's cos we're portrayed as shy in our language so it's a kind of bashful characteristic. It's also why we emphasise respect so much.

  • Anyway I think that the people from Japan are very polite. I've never seen people saying "sorry" so many time in my life (I mean in the movies ;) ). I dont think that you guys are shy just very very polite ;)

    Matane!!!

  • Domo Gomen nasai for this video! ^^

  • if u wre u guys i'd write these sentences down.

  • Some one told me to think of it as saying sorry to have troubled you...made way more sence to me then...!

  • gomen nasai give the money now

(can be a good start in japan)

  • how do u say your welcome is something like hemimashite i think some1 tell me.Great video

  • you mean "doitashimashite"?

  • "Dou itashimashite" is "you're welcome."

  • She's right, we DO apologize TOO MUCH! Just ask my ex.

  • arigato =)

  • your videos help me a lot cuz im going to japan in a few years and i need to learn japanese.. lol ^.^

  • can anyone help me? i want to learn but i want to learn to speak not just phrases...i want to know how to carry a conversation

  • don't try to run before you can walk :)

  • perfect speech!

  • pure poetry right there :)

  • why is it that like in Japanese dramas the people say sumimasen in stead of gomen nasai when they make a mistake?

  • domo sumimasen 4 these vids!

  • hmmm her explanation is almost correct, but not perfect.

    Go(御) is politeness,

    men(免) means to forgive,

and nasai means "please do it".

so to be exact, it's meaning is

"Yurusu koto o shite kudasai (Please forgive)"

  • although thats a more advanced and polite version of a simple; im sorry.

  • hahaha, idk if anyone knows this but tohru in furuba says sorry alot so i think this is kinda funny and familiar

  • Yeah x2..

i learned a lot with naruto and tsubasa chronicle xd <3

  • it's hard trying to find a class in my area tat teaches japanese, so your videos help me out a lot. you make it seem ALOT easier than people make it sound. but wait i still don't get it. when would be the appropriate time to ues this and when would be the appropriate time to use arigato?

  • i love ur vidoes,love u mwahhhh!

  • domo arigato

  • domo sumimasen for the video!!! :D

  • Nice, vid. And you're a Hotty!

  • arigato

i thought arigato meant thank you...so if u accidentally run into someone in the hall or something you say "domo sumimasen." and you wont be saying "thank you"?

  • Correct. And arigatou does mean "thank you".

  • oh thanx ^^

  • gomen nasai

    genki desu ka?

    Awesome!

  • moshi moshi aron onegai shimasu

    genki desu ka?

    i learnt some yay!!

  • gomen nasai!!!

  • say "gomen nasai" to China, Korea, Philippines, and etc.

  • I didn't know she is an actress.

I think she is a really good teacher for you if you wanna learn how to speak JAP.

It's very important for you that a person who teachs JAP can speak English fluently.

I have tryed to teach my friend but not as good as her. She shows you the easiest way to learn so you won't have stress.

    わかりやすい説明なので、自分にも勉強になります。アサクラさん女優業も頑張ってください
