In fact if i understood the runway well, the most reknown models have the right to sit down and speak and watch the others (not for real I know it's part of the show)

I think Naomi was given a simple one because that is the way the designer ordered his pieces. It's probably not biased since most supermodels don't always get their ideal spots in fashion shows.

That is true, she has a very confident yet sensual walk as in when her body moves it is almost as if it is an ocean's wave. You would have to model for a number of years and stand out through the process by adhering to what the industry believes in yet retaining your unique physical qualities. Some people in America may say that N aomi is a you-know-what but she is like any other model who has been doing it for nearly twenty years. You can say the same thing about Tyra.

Designers are always drawn to people such as Naomi or Lakshmi Menon because they don't fit the mould of the blonde-haired, blue-eyed tall babe. Fashion in itself is a creation stemming from the distinct mentality of an individual. People create dress patterns reflecting their own interests/ideas. If someone were to walk into a studio looking like the dozens of blonde-haired models out there then she might get rejected. It's good to be different but not incorrectly different like those on ANTM.

yep i agree but its not also about fitting the mould its about who draws interest and has the modelling walk to make the clothes sell, i think that is whats special about naomi when she wears something everyone wants to see because everyone knows that shes gona work it out... as for tyra well ANTM has had some very good models on there but the show is a stepping stone not a a guarantee to a successful modelling career... kind of like american idol, u have to work it. or u dont make it.

I agree with that, the model's walk should be perfected before walking in the major fashion capitals. Naomi was born and raised in London so she had the upperhand compared to American models who work long years before recieving the opportunity to work abroad. I can tell from the videoclips of Coco Chanel shows that the walk is clean, elongated and with a bit of tension in those cheekbones. As for ANTM, there were a few good contestants who went on to become couture models such as Elyse Sewell.

But you know? Elyse is one of a kind, she has the elf-like face and lean arms that remind me of twiggy back in the 60's. not to mention the hump which is one of the characteristics of Harper's Bazaar photoshoots. She was fortunate enough to get signed with Wilhelmina and then with an agency in Hong Kong. Models who become successful to that extent are a good example of what the industry is about. I know many girls who want to become models think their faces would be right yet it's important...

...to consider the current trends in fashion and also the history of models who made it to the top. I know some of the ones from decades ago such as Iman became the exotic favorite of French photographers. The French like anything dark and mysterious (think of Lakshmi Menon). Their view on a model's race is it must be physically one race not mixed. The reason is anything from Asia, Africa or the Middle East is worth looking into because of the cultural qualities models possess.

The photoshoot Lakshmi Menon did for Hermes with the elephants show her soft side in interacting with such a creature. Indian women are percieved by the West as possessing the qualities of sweetness, compassion and gentleness. She brung that to the shoot and that's why the photos are beautiful.
